Late into Tuesday evening, Jake Tapper of CNN said that if Trump wins the election, "it's going to put the polling industry out of business." Well, Trump won the election, and not surprisingly, many have said my industry is in crisis. That's understandable. A Clinton victory seem like a sure thing. But was it?
Well, cross another one off the bucket list, as last Monday I made my debut as a TV political commentator. Given my career path and my reputation, the aforementioned gig seems strange and incongruous. But those who know me know my political passion, especially these days as Quebec and Montreal try to redefine their places in a rapidly-changing world.
The American political conversation has refined itself into a contest between tech-savvy Democrats with armies of volunteers and wealthy Republicans with backroom boys. In other words, politics has become a war between the suits and the nerds.
