As young as Grade 3, kids are under pressure to wear the right clothes, like the right music, have the right friends and be cool. Often, that leads to stress and anxiety for youngsters. Well-intentioned parents often try too hard to prevent the bumps and scrapes of feelings as kids grow up, but one parenting expert says they're doing more harm than good.
We have seen kids harming themselves due to cyberbullying when they do not put themselves out there. Now, they are asking for the ridicule. As parents, how do we help them to make better choices and control some of this?
"My youngest son wanted to know what the 'part' below his penis was," one mom tells me. "I explained to him that it was his testicles. He quickly replied he didn't like the look of it and could I take them off!"
