Pink's Confidence in Her Post-Baby Body Gives Me Hope

To be happy not only with the squishy parts of my body but also to simply have so much self-worth that happiness is not directly correlated to my efforts to control my weight is such a foreign concept, and yet, I can't help but feel envy for those who, like Pink, do not rely on their daily caloric intake for their sense of identity.

Are We Oversexualizing Breast Cancer?

October is breast cancer awareness month. Yesterday, my 10-year-old son came up to me and asked: "Mommy, do you remember that commercial we saw about those pink things?" He made his hands in a cup formation and covered his chest like a bra. Is there anyone else out there that has some feminism kicking around to feel objectified by overly sexualization of breast cancer? Are breasts selling cancer awareness just like they sell cars, beer, music, cigarette, shoes, and pretty much everything else. Just in case you think I am a prude, I ask you this: Are men asked to wear speedos to raise awareness for prostate cancer?

One Mother's (Exhaustive) Search for Gender-Neutral Clothes

In days of shopping I was unable to find attractive colourful unisex clothing for my son in main street/mainstream stores. So may I say three words to the fashion industry: Get over it. It is soul-crushing and mindless to force children to differentiate their sexed bodies in such limited and limiting ways.
