Bringing the public perception of marijuana to a place where women, especially moms, are comfortable being identified as cannabis users may not sound like a big deal, but this is about so much more than enabling more moms to get high - it's about data, health and wellness.

If Trudeau says something shouldn't be criminal in a year, then people shouldn't be getting criminal records for it now - especially when most of those people are folks who don't enjoy his family's privileges of being white and wealthy. A criminal record traps people in the country and traps them in poverty. Almost every job does background checks, even volunteer organizations. It deeply impacts lives and when that record is due to nonviolent pot possession, it amounts to cruel and usual punishment.

Having bipolar disorder is starting to be considered a plus if you're an artist. Gonzo journalists are writing about their trip to Peru to take Ayahuasca to treat their Schizophrenia. Stars are outing themselves about their previous Oxycodin abuse, and I'm starting to think "is it becoming cool to be an addict?"

Everybody wants to know when the federal government will finally make this election promise a reality. Will it be next year? Or could it still be a couple of years away? I want to know as much as anyone else. And fortunately, I don't have to resort to asking for guesstimates from eternally-optimistic pot aficionados or tipsy businessmen in the bar. Instead, I'm fortunate enough to have access to the hotshots who run Canada's publicly-traded, industrial-scale growers.

Canada's well-financed medical marijuana LPs boast that they're pioneering the very best industry standards in the world. Now this claim to fame has been besmirched.

I'm not a marijuana consumer -- never have been, never will be. But, I understand business planning and marketing. Marijuana is a retail product for recreational consumers. For most users, it's not a staple item (after all, it's "recreational" remember) so, they don't always plan ahead. Impulse sales, product expertise, advice from local sales staff, and immediate fulfillment are paramount. Mail-order may be a complementary channel for some users, but it won't be the only channel. The idea it can be, is simply a non-starter.
Trudeau’s comments come as his government is set to introduce legislation regulating the sale of marijuana this spring.

Former Canadian combat engineer Fabian Henry used to thrive on adrenaline - especially in combat zones - during his 12 years in the military. Now he smokes medical marijuana to avoid stressors that remind him of his most disturbing wartime experiences. And that's what now keeps him sane, he says.
As the Canadian government prepares to introduce legislation next spring to legalize marijuana for recreational use, there are some useful lessons to be drawn from the experiments that have been taking place south of the border since 2012.

The 23,500 square foot production facility in Paris, Ontario started off early in cultivation. As soon as their license to grow was granted, work began straight away. As part of a fully integrated medical marijuana and health care company, high standards must be held to carry on business under the regulations.

Pot dispensaries, cannabis cafes, medical marijuana clinics, smoke shops, vapour lounges -- cannabis culture has gained a foothold in Toronto. Some neighbourhoods have had little to no infiltration, but many have had a staggering number of pot dispensaries open along the main street, out in the open.

There is no single cause for schizophrenia. THC alone is not responsible, but there is an abundance of evidence that THC can provoke an earlier onset of schizophrenia by up to six years. There is also solid evidence to suggest a causal link between THC and schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is a complex and often devastating illness, characterized by the presence of psychotic symptoms including delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking and behaviour and negative symptoms (apathy, lack of motivation, social withdrawal, and reduced emotional responsiveness).
Physicians have not effectively confronted pot-related myths, nor have we adequately educated our patients. When I tell parents about marijuana's risks, they often express shock. Many believe it's like oregano... a safe "natural product" that adds a little spice to life. But pot is not benign.
Mettrum's licensed production facilities span over 80,000 square feet of capacity, located on a total of over 80 acres of land. The Bowmanville location (one of two) is massive, and houses their client service team and part of the grow operations.

As Charlotte began to starve from not being able to consume food, it seemed inevitable that Dravet Syndrome would claim Charlotte's young life. With nothing left to lose, Charlotte's dad began to research experimental treatments -- he found one case in California, where medicinal marijuana helped to curb violent seizures in a young patient.

If home cultivation is not allowed, then cannabis is not truly legalized in Canada. Canadians must have at least as much right to grow their own cannabis as they do to brew their own beer and wine.
