I've lived a large part of my life hating food and coping with self-doubt and self-hate by restricting or overeating, because I wanted to be liked (by myself, I've now realized, and others). This stemmed from years of being fat-shamed. I thought the skinnier I got, the more people would like me.
Internally, the inner warrior is the part of you that recognizes and rejects any negative self-talk. In the world, the inner warrior looks out for you and identifies who's friendly and who's a potential threat. When you embody this warrior part of the psyche, it enables you to stand up for yourself any time you need to and walk away from a bad situation any time you have to.

As an addict, self-sabotage becomes a comfort-zone, failure a safe place to be. Predictability is key -- we know what will happen when we drink or screw up, and while it is painful, at least it is familiar. With success, I feel completely unprepared.
While we can't control what others think of us, what we can control is how we react. So how do we get over this fierce judgment we place on ourselves? Part, I am sure is letting go of perfectionism, lowering our expectations and realizing if you have done your best, that should be enough. I know, easier said than done.

Stop striving for perfection! You'll drive yourself crazy, you won't be able to stop and you won't enjoy being in the moment. A better goal is to aim to be happy instead of perfect. Perfection is overrated. If you ever attain it, you'll realize how empty it feels.
