Toronto's 2015 Pan/ParaPan Am Games is in the process of asking the public to help it choose a mascot design. We are only just over two years away from what will surely be a movement of sportsmanship. Toronto's 2015 PAN AM Games is intent on leaving a legacy found in the essence of human diversity.

In less than three years, Toronto will welcome thousands of athletes and the world to our door steps for the Pan Am Games. I recently attended an event after TO2015 released its first annual progress report, and saw a microcosm for the future of Toronto.

The most persuasive argument against staging the Pan Am Games is that nobody cares about the Pan Am Games -- including the athletes who compete in them. Indeed, the spectre of brand new, multi-million dollar taxpayer-funded edifices devoid of spectators for athletic events nobody wants to see (handball, anyone?) is downright vulgar in this day of fiscal restraint.
