British Columbians have made extraordinary adjustments in their outlook in the last several decades. When I was a boy and a young man there was always another valley to log, another run of fish, more farmland around the corner, more rivers to dam or even reverse. This was considered our birthright. But though it took us a long time to realize it, we saw that we no longer had those luxuries.
There could be serious pushback.
The conditions were first unveiled in 2012.
"Will keep speaking out against this pipeline expansion that doesn't make sense for our economic or environmental future."
Thomas Mulcair accused the government of having a "Goldilocks approach" to pipelines.
A former premier says a "North Dakota type of insurrection" is a possibility in Canada.
"... it's important that the rest of the country, our concerns and our successes, are communicated," said Gregor Robertson.
The pipeline has received a rough ride from critics.
The multibillion-dollar project would nearly triple the capacity of the existing pipeline that runs from a community near Edmonton to the Vancouver area.

We need to move towards a society where oil products are not used for power or fuel. Until that day comes, we need these products and the safest, most environmentally responsible way to get them to us over land is via pipelines.
"If I get arrested it'll bring even more attention to the issue," said the 77-year-old star and activist.

To really understand what is going on on Burnaby Mountain over the past weeks and months it should be seen in the context of years of frustration for those of us on Canada's West Coast sick of the attempts by Enbridge and Kinder Morgan trying to push their dangerous pipelines across the mountain and rivers communities we live in.

That changed last Thursday when the RCMP moved in to enforce the injunction handed down by the B.C. Supreme Court. We've seen media photos and video of the physical conflicts that have sometimes developed, but those instances have been rare and it's important to keep them in perspective.
