What dad doesn't love bacon? I know mine definitely does, and there's no reason to deprive Dad of his favourite brunch on HIS day!

Sweet potato toast is packed with fibre and vitamins that will keep you fueled and energized throughout the morning. And the best part... you get to top them how you like! They're kind of like a multivitamin on a plate. Sweet or savoury, take your pick. Here are four of my fave combos!
I've always loved the experience of making pancakes. I remember my Mom and Dad making us little Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes sprinkled with blueberries or chocolate chips for eyes. The memories of cooking with my parents and making it fun, I'm sure has had a major influence on my love of the kitchen that just continues to grow.

A few weeks ago we made some awesome homemade jalapeno and blue cheese burgers and were craving something crunchy on the side, so I decided to whip up some of these baked onion rings and they turned out so great! So I knew I had to share them with you guys.
Packed with powerful plant foods, this Vegan Almond Cheese is just another option for more variety in your diet (because let's be honest- I'm not kicking the brie out anytime soon!).
Meatballs are one of my hubby, Meik's, favourite foods but for some reason they always get forgotten in the rotation (oops...). A few weeks ago we were up in Kamloops visiting our families and his sister, Jeannette, was whipping up a batch of the family fave and it inspired me to make some.
Easter is just around the corner which, for me, always makes it really feel like spring! All of the pastel colors, the memories of Easter egg hunts out in the grass on a sunny spring morning... I love...
Poke (pronounced POKE-AY) is a traditional Hawaiian dish that you can find pretty much anywhere that carries food on the islands -- from grocery stores, to restaurants, and even little beach shacks. Whenever we're in Hawaii I think it's safe to say my diet consists of at least fifty percent poke.
Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable, in the same family as some better known superfood veggies like kale, broccoli and Brussels Sprouts. They are known for their anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties to fend off chronic disease and keep our bodies functioning at their prime! Sounds pretty good to me.

I'm back at it again with more energy balls! Because, well, you can never have too many snack options and these ones were just WAY too good not to share. I have never made energy balls with cashews before and I seriously could not get over the texture of these once they were all blended up.

For meat eaters or plant-loving vegans alike, tempeh is a great protein option to throw into the mix to keep things interesting. I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like a good taco. Put that into bowl format and you really can't go wrong!
I have to admit, salads aren't always my first choice in the winter months but I have not been able to get enough of this one. It is definitely one that I will be transitioning into spring and summer. It pairs with pretty much anything. Seafood, steak, or even some grilled Haloumi cheese.

A lot of you have expressed wanting to include more plant based eating as part of your nutrition goals. For many of you, this doesn't necessarily mean going 100% vegan or vegetarian, but just including more plants altogether. In line with that, this recipe is not vegetarian, but likely includes a lot less meat that you would typically include and way more veggies, without sacrificing the flavor or satisfaction of the dish.
Energy balls, energy bites, energy truffles...whatever you want to call them, I am a HUGE fan of these little guys. I make a batch almost every week for quick grab and go snacks. These are perfect for those days I have back to back appointments with clients. I can literally pop them in my mouth with 2 minutes to spare and they will hold me through until my next spare 2 minutes.

Hangovers often leave you with a combination of less-than-desirable symptoms. Nausea, stomach upset, headache... no thanks. Although there's no guarantee of a diet that will cure you of your pain, you may be able to offer some relief.
Whether by car, plane or maybe even train, traveling can be a surefire way to get off the wagon with your regular healthy routine. From disrupted sleep to airport and airplane food, gas station stops and constantly being on the go, it's easy to get caught up in grabbing whatever's most convenient.
I've always been known as a savory tooth kind of girl, but lately I've really been enjoying a taste of something sweet. This creamy chocolate avocado pudding has been on repeat. I remember as a kid, t...

Especially over the winter, I love a hot breakfast and I just always seem to gravitate to more savoury combos like avocado toast or anything involving poached eggs and prosciutto. Oats are such a great way to start the day and these combos will have you energized and ready to take the morning!

Wonton Soup is probably my ultimate comfort food. As far back as I can remember, my Ma-Ma (my Chinese Grandma) used to drive up to Kamloops to visit us every summer. I always looked forward to her annual ritual of folding fresh wontons to stock us up for the winter. I remember sitting at our kitchen table as she showed me her trick to make the folded edges of the dumplings stick.

October is officially making it's mark with the beautiful changing leaves and crisper weather. I definitely enjoy the slower pace fall brings and of course, always look forward to getting back into boots and cozy sweaters. If you're not already in the middle of the craze, there's one more thing that fall is sure to bring... brace yourself for everything pumpkin!
This experience certainly made me slow down a bit and put more thought into where it is I'm getting my food, who I'm supporting and what I'm putting into my body. It is a way to get involved in and share our culture and traditions, and enjoy the love and nourishment that good wholesome foods provide.
I can't believe it's October already?! Where has the year gone? With Thanksgiving coming up I wanted to share one of my favourite holiday recipes with you. Stuffing.

You know I love me a good bowl meal. They never get old and just have a way of making everything taste better! You can make pretty much any meal into a bowl meal, but this one is one of my go-tos for...
If you're trying to squeeze in one final end-of-summer trip, picking the right snacks becomes the difference between feeling energized or completely sluggish. With a combination of packing a few things from home and knowing how to navigate the best gas station picks (Yes! They do exist!) you'll be set for your next road trip!
When I thought about wedding planning, I imagined myself curled up on the couch with girlfriends, sipping a glass of wine and flipping through bridal magazines. While there were definitely days like this, there is so much more to wedding planning than I could have imagined!

With Canada Day (or Independence Day for my American friends) just around the corner, I knew I needed to arm you guys with my favorite burger recipe. Being in the middle of the glorious summer weather, Canada Day celebrations always include a BBQ of some sort for us, and who doesn't love a good barbecued burger?!

Not only is it fun to walk through colourful stalls of produce, flowers, and baked goods, it's a great way to support local farmers and stock up on wholesome ingredients. There always seems to be a new ingredient or product I haven't tried and I love getting to know the local vendors and businesses that work so hard to help us get fresh, delicious food on our plates! There really is nothing like fresh ingredients to really add that extra touch to a home cooked meal.
This Fresh Watermelon, Mint and Feta Salad is so simple I can hardly call it a recipe...but I'm going to anyways so that I can share this deliciousness with you guys 🙂 Don't be fooled by it's simplicity, the compliment of flavors in this one is sure to please your tastebuds.
While both yogurt and kefir provide probiotics -- the good bacteria that keep our digestive tract happy and healthy -- kefir boasts an even more potent dose. On top of its digestion-friendly benefits, it's also a great source of calcium, protein, potassium and B vitamins.

I love a good one-pot meal. The hands-on time is minimal and then you get to kick back and relax, or knock a couple of things off of your to-do list while your dinner simmers away and your house fills with delicious aromas. Bonus -- not only is the prep super easy, but so is your cleanup! One pot and done.
This recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight meal (let it simmer away, ready for you after a long day at work) or for a dinner party with friends. I like to set out a bunch of different salsas and toppings to make it a fun "make-your-own" event.
