Top Trends For Nail Art This Summer!

More and more, nail art is becoming super popular and on trend. I am seeing it on pretty nails and toes. Nail art can be really unique and even seasonal. Christmas themed nails are popular in December and now with the sun and the warmer weather, nail art is very feminine with lighter colours and sweet flowers put on toes for a perfect summer themed pedicure.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to speak with Linh Khuu, owner of Varnish Nail Lounge in Vancouver. Linh shared with me some of the top trends for nail art (and for the toes too!) this summer and top tips to keep your manicure and pedicure fresh (and chip free!).

What are the hot nail art trends for summer?

A lot of nail art 3D work is making a comeback. Flowers, rhinestones, textured nails: cable knit, quilted, matte are on trend right now. Especially bright colours and ombre.

How is nail art done?

There are many methods depending on the type of art you want. Most basic may include polka dots, strips, and shapes in varying patterns. More intricate art may require multiple steps. Sometimes layering and using all different methods.

What are the hot colours for nail polish now?

Pastel lavenders, vibrant magenta, corals, sheers nudes and pinks, soft almond and delicate strawberry pink shades.

How should you take care of your nail art?

Top coat really well. Invest in a good quality top coat, apply the top coat once a week. Also remember to wear gloves while cleaning and washing dishes in your home. This will help your nail art stay on longer.

How often can you get nail art done?

Every day if you have the patience for it! Typically if done with your gel polish, it is recommended every two to four weeks (with your gel polish change).

Top tips!

Art takes time whether done at home or by a professional. It is art on a tiny canvas, so patience is key.

Pedicures And Nail Art

Which colours are on trend right now for pedicures?

White, baby pinks, corals, orange and cherry red.

How to care for your pedicure?

Moisturize your feet with lotion and cuticle oil. If you are prone to dry cracked heels, once a week in the shower use a pumice stone or foot file and gently exfoliate the callus or corn. This will greatly help to care for your feet in between pedicures.

What should a person look for when getting a pedicure at a nail spa? (how can you make sure that the nail spa is clean and hygienic)

Make sure your professional uses clean tools and files. Usually if it's clean or new, it will be packaged before the technician uses the tools. Watch for cleaning procedures afterwards.

Top Tips -- How To Keep Your Pedicure Fresh

Do not use a razor to remove a callus. It will grow back much faster, harder and sometimes cause infections.

I love all these nail and pedicure tips and trends for summer. I am going to use these helpful tips as I continue to expand by style ideas this spring!

Your suggestions are always welcome, as I continue on my journey to live life to the fullest. Let's have the very best 2015!
