Don't laugh, but reading glasses have become a key part of my style. The first time I picked up a pair of reading glasses (after 40), everything changed (for the better). No more straining to read or having to increase the zoom view on my computer screen.

No longer the glasses hanging off of the long chain, this stylish eyewear are perfect for making eye contact and flirting at a coffee house.

David Spencer, Founder and Designer of Ogi Eyewear provided some of the top tips on how you can find the perfect reading glasses for your face shape and all the hottest trends this season.

What are the top trends for reading glasses for men and women?

In today's world of reading eyewear, which is totally unprecedented in terms of quality and innovation, rarefied colours and bold colour combinations tend to set the industry's trends. Having become an important segment of the fashion world, reading glasses have become increasingly novel and stylish.

Whereas many people aren't inclined to make a statement with their traditional eyeglasses (black and tortoiseshell still reign supreme), it has become incredibly common for people to take a chance on reading glasses that are colourful, contemporary, and totally original.

How to choose the right reading glasses for your face shape?

Choosing the right reading glass, like any other type of eyewear, largely depends on face shape. Square and rectangular (or more geometric) frames tend to look best on people who have round faces, whereas round frames tend to flatter square face shapes.

How to care for your reading glasses?

It is important, first of all, to take them off with two hands, treating them like they're worth something. (In today's veritable golden age of luxury reading eyewear, they usually are worth quite a bit.) Treatment, though really important, is also quite simple: it's best to wash them with warm water and soap.

Next, use a soft cotton cloth to dry them, making sure to wipe each component, and corner, of the reading glasses. Lastly, be sure to put them back in their case, which you should always keep clean. Follow these steps, and they should last you through to your next prescription.

What will be the top trends for spring?

This spring we expect reading glasses to become more visually interesting, especially on the front of the frame. Rather than featuring one plain colour, we expect to see richly coloured acetate with complex patterns -- more texture, marbled patterns, etc. Pairing multiple colours -- two-tone fronts and coordinating temples -- will likely be one of the spring's most prominent trends, as well.

How have reading glasses changed in the past few years?

In the past few years, reading glasses have made a dramatic transition. Previously they had been strictly utilitarian -- and, therefore, less fashionable -- reading glasses have become much more of a fashion accessory than ever before, making use of premium contemporary materials and designed in a variety of bold and iconic shapes.

Any other comments or tips?

Reading glasses, as we have seen in the past few years, have become an excellent place to let personality show. Indeed, they have become a full-fledged fashion accessory, akin to a purse, bracelet, or watch. In the same way that these fashion accessories say something about the person wearing them, reading glasses should represent their owner's personality and style in a very particular and deliberate way. Happily, there is no shortage of really great options out there today.

I will be thinking about all of these great reading glasses style ideas as I continue to enhance my wardrobe!

Your suggestions are always welcome, as I continue on my journey to live life to the fullest. Let's have the very best year ever!
