Vanity Fair Running Gwyneth Paltrow Cover Story; Editor Says She 'Forced My Hand'

Vanity Fair Running Gwyneth Paltrow Cover Story; Editor Says She 'Forced My Hand'

Commented Oct 16, 2013 at 16:39:55 in Celebrity

“Graydon Carter is a hack. A takedown piece...please. What credibility does this magazine have. They take one celebrity down and then pander to Pippa Middleton as a contributor. First it was Mr. Carter's obsession with Paris Hilton and now Pippa Middleton. Vanity Fair does have some amazing contributors and articles but the juxtaposition with its gauche editor are too much. I've moved on.”

“Clearly this woman has a flawed perspective. She should show some respect to herself and not comment at all. The hypocrisy of her statement is further reinforced by the fact that she then complimented her sons suit. No one is on the same page there. Ms. Loring, thanks but no thanks. We can do with out your double standard opinion.”

Why Facebook's Mobile Ads Are Working Better Than Google's

Commented Jul 25, 2013 at 17:30:48 in Technology

“Just another example of Wall St wanting to hear what Wall St wants to hear. The Facebook experience is such a broken one. Who is actually clicking on these ads? They have actually driven me off Facebook. I really would like to know who is converting on these ads. The mobile experience is sub par regardless and the advertising dominates the social aspect of the application. Much like pop ups and TV commercials I can't wait for the day when people skip or just abandon the platform all together. It surely isn't making our social lives richer.”

“As with every Pope before him and staying true to the institution itself, it can only be described as smoke and mirrors. Why don't you stop focusing on the superficial things and actually do something about the hurt and pain caused by the church's beliefs onto others. Surely if you can give up a Papal apartment and a Mercedes, what does it matter if gays get married.
Humble, may be. Doing the right thing, NO.”

CEOs Are Terrible At Management, Study Finds: Forbes

Commented May 28, 2013 at 14:18:07 in Business

“Why is Marissa Mayer singled out for the image? Surely there are numerous examples of CEOs terrible at management. Perhaps the must notorious right now Jamie Dimon. Oh right, he is a man and banks, are well, allowed to bring the entire country back decades before we can even be slightly critical of them. It's just so easy to bully a woman. What is she doing in that position anyway. She should stay home, because women are terrible and managing anything. Except for the management of a house, and kids, etc etc. Sickening.”

“This is hilarious. While I respect the right to privacy, these people need to get a grip. It is a fact that the Royal family is "news" and celebrity fodder. And frankly this comes along with the territory. For one, the Middletons seem to relish in the limelight so I can hardly think they are upset about this. Secondly, it was announced where they were going. A beach is a beach and they are IN PUBLIC. When your "job" is to paid by the tax payers of the UK to represent them (involuntarily, I might add) you have to know that your privacy is not a given any longer. So shut up! Too bad the Duke and Duchess are impossibly boring, it's a picture of a couple on a beach. Scandalous.”

“Perhaps a union could have fought for a better education for you. It's STAKE not STEAK. While I agree that early union fights helped shape many labor laws we are in a different time now and the same demands are not plausible in the world we live in. Everyone is making compromises. Sadly the working poor are hurt the most and last time I checked unions aren't exactly fighting for them. Or may be all we hear about are autoworkers etc.”

Lance Armstrong's $5 Million Offer Rejected By Government: REPORT

Commented Jan 16, 2013 at 10:59:23 in Sports

“This is such a fascinating cultural issue. The culture of sport, celebrity, and greed. How this plays out and public reaction will be an amazing metaphor for the broader picture of collective morals and attitudes. Lance Armstrong miraculously got away with lying for many years. This is catching up real quick and his payment should be steep. While he did amazing things as the face of a charity, one can't help think it was because of his guilt complex around his unconscionable behaviour and ego.
Enough is enough. The lesson here is not about crucifying him or defending him, it is that we are ALL personally responsible for our own actions. When you disregard truth and dignity you must make that right. Unfortunately for Lance, beyond disappointing himself he has defrauded many people and profited greatly by being a cheater.”

anneeger on Jan 16, 2013 at 14:03:07

Henry on Jan 16, 2013 at 11:44:06

“I agree. My wife mentioned the name Marion Jones, the African American track star who in this same time frame was sent up the river. Sad comment for us as a culture if this sort of "enhancement" is the vitamin for victory and profit. It really the metaphor of moral decay.”

“Larry Hanley needs to get out there and get a reality check. Since when do union workers represent America's poor? This statement is insulting and overtly demonstrates his ignorance and entitled attitude as a union leader. He should be very careful about throwing stones in glass houses.”

windy33 on Dec 14, 2012 at 08:31:40

“you can also thank a union for what you have. and your glass house will be the next one to crumble when you hit the skids like alot of other people. unions got people better pay and benfits rather you were in a union or not. employers started apying better so as not to lose employees to a better paying job. THAT IS WHAT IS AT STEAK HERE. NO UNIONS TO KEEP THINGS BETTER THEN YOU WILL LOSE IN THE END”

“Are you kidding me. Why is Princess Diana in that list. She comes from one of the oldest and royal English lines. She has more British nobility in her than the Queen herself (who everyone forgets is a German royal). Just because you change your name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor doesn't make you more uncommon than a Spencer. Check your facts. Camilla and Katherine belong there and should be congratulated for their masterful social climbing.”

I'm indifferent about him. There are far more inspirational stories of these games.”
