“Rob Ford sounds very un-Canadian here. Our health care system is not perfect and abuses do occur but I think it is safe to say that most Canadians believe in publicly-funded health care, regardless of their political stripes. Most Canadians believe that someone should not lose everything they have to pay for their own health care or for that of a loved one. Rob Ford is proving just how out-of-touch he is with the average voter. These voters need to make an informed decision come next election time.”

“I myself do not believe that the Prime Minister knew absolutely nothing about this. It is possible that he told Wright to fix it via any means possible and that steps were taken to shield the PM from knowing the details in any official manner (emails, voice mails, texts, etc...). If the PM gives the authority to people in his inner circle (the PMO or otherwise) then he accountable. I have yet to hear him take accountability for this in any way, shape, or form. "The buck stops here" only seems to apply to other world leaders, perhaps.”

“Sorry...I mixed up the userIDs...I agree that Obama is a politician...I don't think he has attacked minorities for political gain, at least to the same degree as the Parti Quebecois is trying to do.

I believe that Assad attacked his people with chemical weapons. The bottom line is that he has a huge stock pile of them. I think Obama should have ordered missiles to be launched to destroy those weapons sooner. Assad is stalling.

There comes a point where someone has to stand up to the bully.”

DebbyM on Sep 13, 2013 at 10:24:49

“And so what happens if Obama had ordered his 'limited, two day, no boots on the ground' strike and Assad had given him the finger?  You ok with WW3 starting?  Russian and Chinese armies mobilize and the American economy stumbles badly (because China is America's ATM machine (via the Fed)).  Two days turns into two weeks, two months, two years (and the world gets involved.....)  Obama was hoping he could bully Syria into doing what they wanted and he didn't give a rat's behind about Syrian kids because if he did, he would have gotten all righteously indignant when it was bombs and mortars blowing the children to pieces.  Chemical weapons or bombs and mortars, they're still dead.”

DebbyM on Sep 13, 2013 at 10:21:08

“And the UN came back with no conclusive evidence as to who manufactured or deployed the chemical weapons and I do believe that I read an article somewhere that said the rebels got chemical stuff from the Saudi's.  So really, no one knows, it's all conjecture and the fact that the Americans backed Saddam Hussein when he was poisoning the Iranians and the chemical weapons didn't bother them then, just shows them to be hypocrites.  They just want to bring Syria down and then Iran because of the connection between the two and Iran's oil and their efforts to sidestep using the American dollar.  So when does the world stand up to the bully Americans?  They've spent decades lying and manipulating the course of many, many countries societies, economies and political life.  When do they get called on the carpet for all of that?”

“What you are doing is ranting on Obama?  You didn't answer my question.  I didn't watch the video.  Also, I believe that Assad used chemical weapons on his own people.  He previously denied having them.  Now Assad is trying to delay providing data on them as part of a the recent proposed compromise to cede control of said chemical weapons to the international community.”

DebbyM on Sep 13, 2013 at 08:35:40

“You wanted to know why Obama is an example of a politician preying on peoples fears (you specified minorities but my reference is to people in general). I listed ways that he's used peoples fears to his advantage and ways that he's lied. The UN just came back with their report and they say it's inconclusive as to who did what. So the American government (Obama) is promoting fear of Assad so that their agenda can be played out (as indicated by General Wesley Clark).”

“Everyone has a right to their beliefs/opinions much like yourself. Perhaps I should have said "The Parti Quebecois" vs. :"Separatists"? There are people living in Quebec who support the charter and who are not separatists. There are also people in the rest of Canada who support the charter, and are not separatists. My point is that being a Separatist and being racist/bigotted/ignorant/etc are two separate things. Also, I'm not sure what you mean with "dutchy". Please explain how you are using the term "dutchy".”

“I would rather not, because for many people he is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and can't wait to watch msnbc each night.

Getting back to Quebec, for 40 years it has been all about language and separatism which has taken the focus off things like fixing the roads and managing the economy. To get elected It is much easier to get people all revved up about stuff like that, than boring stuff like roads.”

DebbyM on Sep 13, 2013 at 07:45:30

“I think Obama is an example of a (good/bad?) politician because promises he made to get into office, he forgot the minute he was president. He promised that people should have a right to know if their food had GMO in it so he'd make sure it was labelled. Didn't do that and in fact he just signed a bill that actually protects Monsanto's business. He promised to close Guantanamo, didn't do that. He get's a Nobel Peace Prize and then threatens to start bombing Syria even though there is no solid evidence that Assad was responsible for the chemical attack. Strangely reminiscent of someone. He's arming rebels (and Al Quaeda?) and meddling again in some other country's affairs because he has the agenda to follow through on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAWzvtVJA5A And haven't Americans lost even more of their civil rights under his watch?

Obama might be a good speaker, but he's no different than any other politician. He's untrustworthy and makes promises that he has no intention of keeping.”

“On the other side of the same coin, federalists are banking on their capacity to block the PQ lifting its image with this propose Charter as it achieved with Bill 101...

Single minded, domineering federalists never needed a proposed Charter to muster their mights against the PQ. All excuses are valid to swing with...

The same federalists that lost their fight against Bill 101 are heard using the very arguments against the proposed Charter... So much for imagination for those at ease with mindsets dating back centuries...”

For Levant to suggest that Nenshi meant anything literal with the comment suggests that Levant is ignorant (and a lousy debater) and/or that he is playing to his ignorant listeners/readers/followers. Perhaps Nenshi should have kept that question for a face-to-face debate and out of the public media (Twitter) but it's really not his fault if ignorant people take things out of context.”

Instead, we are looking at profit first. Our government is muzzling scientist.
