“Wouldn't it be great if we could just accept ourselves the same way we accept the Sun and the Moon? The beauty of life is fleeting, it's tragic we waste it on such stupid things as the "value" of appearances.”
“Revealing the extent to which the US was spying illegally is only wrong if it's something the US govt didn't want people to know about. People no longer appreciate the risk involved in standing up for what's right, which is what Snowden has done.
Chelsea Manning tried to follow "correct" channels and was ignored; the US govt treated her with cruel and unusual punishment for what she did--even though she tried to do everything the "right" way. There is no "right" way to reveal crimes of govt, if you're the govt. There will always be an unpleasant price to pay, armchair critics be damned.
Snowden's done the right thing, and continues to do so. The truth is not the property of any government.”

“Only in North America is the sharing of facts "bullying" and "shaming".
We've climbed out of the unholy pits of history where scientists were rounded up and burned alive--for this. Everyone wants a flying car (science) or a hover-board (science)--but don't bring up science demonstrating our participation in altering the environment unless you wanna start sumpthin'!
While Beats receives accolades for its design sense--and re-invigorating the headphone market (plus having a rabidly loyal fan-base)--they are universally panned for sound quality. No unpaid reviewer has had reason compliment the Beat sound, anyway.
Please, oh mighty FSM, if it's in your noodles power, don't let this come to pass.

“There are two different companies in electronics. One spends most of their money on marketing and the other spends their money on engineering and quality. Beats and Bose are examples of over priced marketed crap. B & W and Shure are examples of high quality craftsmanship!!! If your not an audiophile, buy the brand you have never heard of, because they are spending their money on research, instead of marketing!!!”
“It is pretty astonishing. The idea that someone strung out on heroin can wield, aim, and fire a loaded shotgun when most can't even sit up straight is remarkable indeed.
I don't know much about the case, but having had the opportunity to live in Vancouver during the 90's heroin craze, most anyone in Van (thats been through the DTES) knows what the effects of heroin are upon its unfortunate and troubled users.”
“With stories like these, our trust in authority and the fabric of society will continue to unravel before our eyes. Every civilian knows what's wrong here, but are more or less made to feel powerless to do anything about it.
With mayors smoking crack and the police going unpunished for murdering in cold blood, is this the Toronto you want to live in? Is this the kind of country we want to have for ourselves?”
However, in this instance they do deserve credit as they acted on it when they had the opportunity. Imagine being a kid who never got an "A" in school. You finally get one--but because of all the times you'd failed before you don't deserve credit for the one you just got?
Like I said, I see your point. Howsoever late in the game it may be, PETA in this instance did the right thing. So, they get the credit.”
“PETA deserves credit for acting on this inhumane form of "adult entertainment".”

“No, they don't. Crushing porn has been out there for at least 20 years. Had they stepped in all those years ago they could have made an impact & made this disgusting fetish something unable to be made. This fetish wasn't a secret over the past 20 years & there were plenty of articles online about it, and an outrage over it by animal activists.”
Mark5301 on Apr 19, 2014 at 13:41:34
“I suppose they do, for once it's not PETA killing the animals.”

“For once LOL. I am not a fan of PETA (one of their members said I abuse my dog because I make her live inside a home with abundant food, water and the ability to sleep on my furniture.. I was making my rescue a slave) but this was definitely a point for them.”
“The *only* reason she sees Jennifer Lawrence in the mirror is because she (I was going to write "wants") HAS to see Jennifer Lawrence; otherwise, you know, she'd have to face the reality that she's one sandwich short of a picnic.”
“If you son't stay and listen to a large group of people affected by a serious disease--that may randomly affect anyone--then, if you're a Senator, you're not doing your job. And considering how many days off Senators get--it's not a whole lot to ask them to do the bare minimum, which is to hear the concerns of their fellow citizens.”
UserNameDon on Feb 28, 2014 at 12:12:30
“I don't want Senators inviting or watching "funny" testimony.”
“It wouldn't be the first time someone thrust into fame wasn't prepared for the personal cost it brings. I'd rather he drop the game and find some peace than end up in a report dead from an overdoes of whatever.”

“A sad day for Canadians that invest their time in the workings of the government finding out once again, how poorly it actually works, and how similar to a school yard it has been and remains to be.
If this unruly and unproductive conduct of our respected government officials bothers you, don't waste time in locating, contacting, and informing your own local representative of your dissatisfaction in this process. Get their view, and if you support it then support them. If you don't, then inform them you'll campaign among friends and family against them.
What happens in Ottawa usually robs us of our pride; our self-respect arises from the actions we choose to take. Consider contacting your local rep.
