“The question should also be if the workers are worth more. If they are then naturally they will get paid more or they will take their skills or lack thereof to Burger King or Taco Bell. Does anyone really believe that if I am currently making a $1.50 an hour more than minimum wage that when we raise the minimum wage to $10, I won't be smart enough to want to make $11.50 or more? If employees can't figure that one out then maybe they shouldn't be paid more than minimum wage.”

“The ACA is insurance and does nothing to improve the quality of medical care in this country. If the US system of medical care is so bad then why are Canadians coming to the US to get medical procedures done. If you look at the cancer survival rates in the US and compare them to the UK it isn't even close. Your chance of surviving cancer in the UK is significantly lower than here in the US. It is the same for strokes and heart attacks. These same percentages are not that bad for Canadians but they are considerably lower than in the US. Here in the US such hospitals as the Mayo Clininc and Cedars Sinai will not take patients who are covered by the exchanges. Many doctors have made the same decision. Having insurance from the exchanges does you no good if you can't get health care when you need it. In Orlanda there are currently 7 pediatricians in the exxhanges for 260,000 kids. Hopefully that number will increase to more sustainable levels by Jan. 1st. but I wouldn't be shocked if that didn't happen.”

stevena999 on Dec 5, 2013 at 17:13:23

“I agree. Insurance does not improve the quality of medical care. That's why it needs to be eliminated and replaced by single payer. As I said before, there are many trying to derail this program. When millions sign up, those not supporting it will need to join to survive.”

“My aunt in Freiburg, Germany went to visit her doctor about 10 years ago. She was concerned about a lump in her breast. The doctor told her "Frau Haas, this is nothing to worry about" and send her home. Six months later she had her breast removed. She had top notch health insurance and btw she couldn't even sue the incompetent doctor and I guess he is still practicing his vodoo medicine.”

stevena999 on Dec 5, 2013 at 15:11:29

“Well - we all have anecdotal stories to support our position, don't we. I actually have a nasty example of a relative here in the US, but I won't go into details on the internet. The point is that the healthcare system in the US is the most expensive in the world and is not delivering results as measured against other western countries. It's got to change. It's a huge industry, so it's not surprising to see the effort to derail ACA. A lot of people make a lot of money with the present system.

We can snipe at each other all day and our respective minds will not be changed. Let's agree to disagree. Time will tell who was right. Have a nice day.”

“Not too long ago Radio Shack made it onto the list of the 10 firms that wouldn't be around a year later. As a matter of fact they made the list 2 years in a row. You would think that any business on the verge of going under would do things differently and try to get off the AFA list. I'm not even sure if they need to be put on the boycott list since I doubt that they have many customers anyway. Businesses need to remember that Christmas is the reason for the season. If you can't wish 80% of the country who are christians a Merry Christmas then you're totally inconsiderate and deserve to go”

Logical Mark on Dec 3, 2013 at 16:48:03

“Actually, the reason "christmas" is celebrated in the winter is because the catholic church had to find a way to get more pagans under their control, so they co-opted a winter celebration that was probably thousands of years old, and based around the winter solstice.”

reallybarb on Dec 3, 2013 at 16:40:41

“80% of the country may claim to be christian, and I doubt the numbers are that high it's probably closer to 70%, but a tiny almost not to be noticed percentage of that number act or live as Jesus portrayed a follower of his should act. Love they neighbor didn't include any buts or unless he or she is, and do unto others was never meant to mean do it to them first. Aside from the fact that there are many people who just don't care what your reason for the season is neither do most christians.”

Quisp13 on Dec 3, 2013 at 16:32:29

“Personally I would rather be on thier list than have a bunch of uptight self important moral hypocrites tell me what to do. I can belleive that with all the commmercialism and black fridays and cyber monday and christmas stuff being set up in august, chrstmas carols in every store for months and a constant barrage of holiday tv and radio, office christmas parties and trees everywhere, the rude people and the stress levels going through the roof. It is like all christmas all the time for three months(soon to be four) that everyone is subjected to, you want more. After all that you people are pissed because Radio shack wont say the word christmas? You are too much. everything else is christmas and then a store decides to be respectful and considerate and you boycott it. Thats a good christian thing to do .
What i find the funniest is that it is totally inconsiderate to not wish you a merry christmas yet it is polite to completley disregard over 20% of the countrys population and say that it is all about you. Thats the holiday spirit, merry christmas to me and screw those poeple who arent like me.”

“What are you blathering about? I thought Obama created 7.5 million jobs since he took office. Perhaps if people got trained they could qualify for the thousands of jobs that pay considerably more than minimum wage. Also having tatoos all over your face and rings in your eye brows is not conducive to making a decent wage. There are lots of companies with high paying entry level jobs but can't find people with the skills to do the work. Kids are going to college and majoring in Art of Mesopotamia and then wonder why they can only find jobs flipping burgers at McDonalds. If you think the Republicans are the ones governing our country through politics then go look at Obama, Reid and Pelosi. You can't run a government by just controlling the House of Representatives.”

reallm12 on Dec 1, 2013 at 05:25:33

“Blathering?????You said that Obama created 7.5 M jobs, where I think that's good compared to the 9 M Bush lost over his term. As far as having tattoo's and working, I have and know many that have tattoo's and have good jobs. But I refused to live in one of those red like states a long time ago. I now have 20 yrs into my retirement pension, I'm in management too. Your blathering comment sounds as though what you do and how you seek it may need to be tweaked a lil...I remember when I was a kid and they used to look at men with long hair and discredit them, and they still do. But there's a way around that, and places where that conduct of character isn't demonized. This is what the old fashioned Republican outlook has been hitched to and is on its way out the door. Especially when they try to destroy there own country for their own benefit, which through their ignorance don't realize they mostly damage themselves...If you haven't noticed, the House is controlled by a Republican majority, and now known for doing nothing at all to get our country moving forward. Maybe Obama, Reid and Pelosi need to take back charge of the House?”
