“There's a lot that science can't explain. In fact, science can hardly explain where we are and what's going on in our universe, let alone the vast space beyond that. But science is so quick to discount the possibility that there is some force, greater than we can possibly imagine, pulling the strings. Now, don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm not talking about the bible, or any kind of organized religion... I'm just suggesting that there is something greater out there that we have yet to encounter. They will probably introduce us to them first.”

JaySF123 on Dec 9, 2013 at 12:44:49

“Science does not discount anything without reason. You are putting your own wants and wishes on a thing that has no opinions.”

Cori527 on Dec 9, 2013 at 05:24:46

“Clearly you have no idea whatsoever of what science is or how it functions.

Ignorance is a hallmark of superstition, religion and dogma. Based upon simple mathematics and probability, the chances that there are intelligences out there far greater than our own are very nearly 100%. This does not mean that these intelligences have anything at all to do with any story, religion or tale told in the history of the human race.

I don't dismiss the possibility of any form of life.

I do, however, dismiss you.”

elfish on Dec 8, 2013 at 23:07:26

“Science doesn't "discount the possibility." Science simply says "something greater" is not amenable to science, so you can't use science as a tool to prove it one way or another. People get in trouble with scientists when they try to bend science around to try to prove the existence of "something greater."
Science is about understanding repeatable, observable phenomena. "Something greater" is not observable or at that very least, not repeatable because the people who claim to observe can't seem to "show" it to any one else. That makes it speculation, faith or feelings, things that are not quantifiable.
Lots of scientist believe in "something greater" based on faith, but they don't expect to use science to prove it. A few scientists do bring the search for "something greater" into the world of science, but they generally start from some physical, observable phenomena and extrapolate to "something greater," which typically looks very different from a deity. Non scientist typically start from their idea of "something greater" and work backwards trying to find something in science that proves their picture.
For example, a scientist looks at a rainbow and tries to understand how it formed. A non scientist looks at a rainbow and tries to prove that it has something to do with "something greater." There might be "something greater" about a rainbow, but it is at a much deeper level than most people operate.

“There are infinite possibilities! Try not to think too much about them. Before you do that, I will suggest there is a parallel universe where there is a HuffingtonPost forum user who is suggesting the EXACT same thing with the same user name. That user might be more delightful too.”

iaov on Dec 8, 2013 at 22:25:55

“That sounds like god. Or aliens running the universe. While both might be interesting ideas there exists at this time not even the teeniest tiniest bit of evidence to support either.”

palindrom on Dec 8, 2013 at 21:11:13

“Well, if you can formulate your idea as a well-defined hypothesis subject to an empirical test, science might take an interest. Until then, it's outside the realm of science.”

I was sick to my stomach, and I thought, something has to change, and change NOW. How did this kid have legal access to these weapons that gunned down so many that morning? His mother should have known that her son was NOT someone who should have had access to guns, in ANY capacity.”

Stand up to the creeps, but don't categorize them all as creeps, if they're just giving a polite compliment.”

“While I think it's a really cool thing that they're doing, let's remember that they have a team of chefs and they have the ability to eat at the most exclusive vegan restaurants at the drop of a hat. Committing to a real vegan LIFESTYLE is not something the average person can do with a snap of the fingers. It takes education, it takes the ability to learn to cook, and the ability to change your entire mindset. So yeah, while they've instructed their personal chefs to cook vegan for a month, it doesn't make them superheroes.”

The only other golden rule: don't go to bed angry at each other. I know that sounds like some antiquated advice, but it's true. Do not harbor anger or resentment. Talk about it, and work it out, kiss and make up before you go to sleep.”

She follows Kanye around like a lovesick puppy, to every show, when she should be home with her daughter. How many times does she need to see his show?
