“I was to understand this was what the left wanted. Higher single family homes prices that force most out of the market and into high density homes and mass transit thus saving the world once again.”

“It was the Conservatives in 2006 that allowed 0% downpayment and 40 year mortgages which initiated a demand surge which increases prices in part because new housing construction needs years to ramp up in response to demand surge; rapidly growing prices can trigger an increase in speculative as we almost certainly have now and subsequently--due in large part to the Conservative government and not lefties--we have housing bubbles in some Canadian cities.”
“This isn't cool, this is how a baby quits. If you don't like your job be grown up enough to resign in a respectful manner. Why is she so self centered that she feels the need to embarrass her employer on her way out?”
Jay Blanchard on Sep 30, 2013 at 13:05:28
“She didn't embarrass her employer--she never mentioned her employer's name in the video. She worked for a company that treated her with no respect and expected her to sacrifice her life for a paycheck, with demands and roles/responsibilities that I sure far extended beyond what was detailed and agreed on when she was hired.
In the modern working world, if you don't stand up for yourself, your employer will walk all over you. There are few unions, few laws about worker's rights & if you're on salary, you're essentially a slave--they can work you whenever & wherever, with no overtime or options to say no.
Good for her. If more people had the guts to stand up to greedy, heartless employers this way, maybe we wouldn't all be working 70 hour work weeks, tethered to our smartphones checking work emails while on "vacation" with our families.”

“I often see people come on this board who always stick up for the corporation and never the worker. You read the article didn't you? 2 years with no recognition and forced to work crazy late night hours, no lunch breaks, etc. She never gets the time to spend with her friends and family because she is always working and working at horrible hours. Many U.S. corporations mistreat their workers and never appreciate or reward them, so more of this is a welcome sight. Perhaps if far more people did this, things would improve in the workplace.”

“She didn't embarrass her employer, since they were never named in the video. Others embarrassed her employee by going deeper into the story.
And "resign in a respectful manner?" Thanks for the advice Ms. Etiquette”

“Don't take the words out of context, these flows are very similar to the flood of 1896. The last 1 in a 100 flood. More than a 100 years ago. Whats unprecedented is the amount of people now living in the flood plain.”
chatnuptime1 on Jun 24, 2013 at 04:27:30
“Ya. or worse finding yourself live in a flood plain no one new even existed because you have lived in a desert with less then an inch of rain for the past 30 years. Worse the city had not grown to the point of that location in all it's history and never knew it was a flood plain. Just a tract of land we didn't know a thing about on the outskirts of town by miles. Now we grow so large over a million in ten years and we build all over it with no inclimation or hint that it is an ancient lake bed and a wash. Covered over with brush and cactus. And we get a days worth of El nin~o woops. there goes a town of 1600 brand new houses, schools and shops. White and brown water rafting at break neck speed and see all sorts of wrecking going down. No one knew what they built on. We had no history whatever on the region.”

“Same flood of 1896, also a result of global warming?”

“So you are saying that nothing at all has changed since 1896 ? No other variables, the world is a constant.
Wow, I cant believe you are smarter than 99% of the worlds scientists.
Please tell us more DogRumpCreek, it must have taken at least an IQ of 160 to come up with your clever name.
Please illuminate us with how wrong all the scientists are,,,,”

“Trudeau was a complete disaster, maybe the worst ever. You need to go by the new biography on him that finally put into perspective how bad he was for the country. It could be another 40 years to undue his damage.”

“I live in Calgary and wish this crowd was around 40 years ago to save us from this fools father as well.”
mercsforever on May 25, 2013 at 09:19:52
“If you ignorant cowboys had taken ten minutes to listen to that 'fool's father', you wouldn't be in the bind you're in today. Think about it. What we need today is a National Energy Program, but oh no! THAT would be interfering with Alberta's ability to sell its oil to the highest bidder on the world market! How's that going for you, by the way? Probably would be a lot better if you had some agreement structure with other provinces about pipelines, etc., something that might be called a NATIONAL energy program. Fools.”

“As shown most recently in BC it will all come down to the economy. That will translate into another well deserved majority for Prime Minister Harper and a retirement sometime in 2017 as one of the longest serving most successful Prime Ministers ever.”

“Oh, then, you must like paying $100 MILLION per year on those prime time Action Canada Ads while the Canadian Federal Debt is standing at $615 BILLION!
Sorry, lost my head there, you Alberta types have never changed your government in 40+ years and you have had 40+ yeas of high level training on avoiding your federal taxes.
And you talk ECONOMY!
The angry 93 Canadian VOTER annihilated the Mulroney Eastern Conservatives taking them from a majority 156 seats down to just 2 elected seats.
In the next election, the angry Canadian VOTER will get the chance to visit the voting booth again and wipe out Harper's Alberta Conservatives down to just 27 Alberta seats!”

“Skills are just that skills
look around out west and you will see skilled tradesmen from many collapsed industries ie. pulp, fishing, whatever.
think hard, your high paying jobs and "skills" hinge on one political or economic change. Then you will be what these stories will be about.”
