“Conrad Black. Northern Foundation. Corporate media manipulations. Google "Northern Foundation" and read up. On a tangent, I do have to ask of this situation, "does Stephen Harper have any close ideological buddies who aren't either convicted criminals or well on their way to getting arrested?"”

“Of course not! That's the new radical fascist corporatocracy on parade. Old style conservatives think we won the war and this can't happen. The stories told to aspiring new young conservatives don't tell the truth of it. Once the election is over, the PMO and the corporate/investor lobbyists are running Harper's skull. These little brats who try to impress their little fairy boss Harper cannot provide character, competence, cultural wisdom or comprehensive knowledge. Instead, they provide urgent rage and decisiveness which is designed to stop negotiation, stop learning, stop thinking and follow the rule of the corporate CEO who wants a bonus cheque last week. Harper is the most aspiring knee-pad nurse out there, PP is the same pushover with a different hair cut. That's what the fascists want; a pushover as party leader. Pierre Poilievre Pushover. PPP. In the bowl bowl bowl.”

“In select ridings, that may be the prevailing attitude, and each voter has to review the most likely option that assures the Cons (if they were a threat to win), are not elected. This requires both 1) those who are regularly attentive to political issues make their decision in a fairly unified manner, but more importantly, that 2) the general public that doesn't watch politics so regularly, is presented with a candidate and party that they can feel comfortable voting for if it's not their usual first choice. Therefore, the candidates of the non-Con parties have to be seen as highly competent, activist in democratic process development, have roots in important issues and someone they can relate to. From what I've seen, if the promoters of the ABC campaigns only talk amongst themselves and don't work very hard to engage with the general public constantly and with every means possible, you'll see perhaps 2000 voters in a riding vote the ABC pattern, but few more. The ABC pattern needs far more in a riding, depending on the voting splits to work, but I'd say aim for at least 10,000 to vote an agreed upon ABC candidate to assure the Cons aren't winners. One thing to be very wary of: once the writ is dropped, old habits come into play and the hype drives campaigners back to their usual parties. The discussions have to be strong and integrated before the writ and 10X stronger and in the open, during the writ.”

greysells2 on Dec 4, 2013 at 14:56:00

“A few hundred changed votes would have changed the election in Brandon Souris Riding. My feeling is that the ABC vote may be stronger this election than normal. It is being talked about much more and further ahead time than other elections. I notice that there more people who are receptive to this concept.  I am not a joiner so I am not a party member but I did make a donation to the party which most closely represents my views. I asked all three of the opposition parties to work together in the next election and none of them would. In all probability, based on past performance, that I will vote for my second choice not my first but I am willing to do so in order to change government. So I, and others, have to work hard for the ABC alternative is chosen more for center and center/left voters in Canada. I will do my bit. This election is a "change" election.”

The moderate conservatives all across Canada have not been represented by the Reform/Alliance/Conservative parties for maybe 10 years now, you'd think they could organize instead of being treated like dust mats in every way, by very aggressive criminals in Ottawa. I was a federal candidate, I've met over 1000 Albertans who want Harper gone, most are Conservatives who hate Harper. They are all reasonable people who want good moderate and accountable governance and they see the country hijacked by this psychotic Harper. There's only one thing left to do: organize to retake the moderate option, outside the Conservative Party.”

“The observation about Stephen Harper we have is that he's a compulsive liar and that the PMO is loaded up with criminals, oil, pipeline and bank execs and really dark characters from the Republican Party and Harper's wingnut extreme fundamentalist Christian indoctrinations. There's simply no way that Harper will say anything tonight that deals with the truth, he's going to smokescreen, whitewash, divert, and muddy the water as much as possible while also making sure the delegates, the voters, the riding associations, committees and constituents from across the country are either ignored or manipulated to the Nth degree. As always. He knows that a good portion of the crowd who paid to get in will let him get away with it. So will the far-right corporate media.”

“Rob Anders has been protected and endorsed by Harper since the Reform Party days, and Anders is from the riding beside Harper's in Calgary. The Con party assures that Anders stays on as MP even against the wishes of the ridings EDA, who want open candidate competitions, yet are refused. Harper just keeps appointing Anders.

What is Rob Anders relationship with Stephen Harper? What would it cost Harper if the Calgary West riding was given free choice to elect its own candidates without party interference? It must be very serious, because the riding is one of the notoriously safe Conservative ridings, and as they say in Calgary, the riding would elect a house plant as MP, if it labelled Conservative. So what's the dirt on this ugly, anti-democratic situation?”

“Thanks for pointing those things out. Cannabis has many health benefits unique when it's unburned vs burned. Hemp is a close relative but different plant that can revolutionize an agricultural economy. Hemp products are already in every health food store in Canada and you can find hemp blended material in clothes in most stores now too, but it can be radically expanded and should be!!!”

“Oh, let's start a rivalry; which province gets marijuana legal first, who revolutionizes their provincial economy fastest by radically expanding their hemp growing and hemp processing (hemp is not marijuana, it's a different plant type and you can't get a "high" off it).

Let's face it, marijuana is getting legalized everywhere soon and the similar-looking but different plant "hemp" is an incredibly valuable plant for energy, nutritional oil, extremely strong fibre and the fact that it grows very fast and cheaply.

There are three crops that will revolutionize the global economies: hemp, bamboo and algae. Algae is what can rapidly replace fossil fuels, while we also radically improve engines and wait to get to hydrogen or a purely solar/electric economy. Bamboo is gaining entry into various markets but hasn't really hit North America much yet. But it will. It's not a Canadian climate crop, but hemp and algae should be already.”

“That's twisted stuff. Factual, and bordering on a perverse relationship. I see in another long article in MacLeans that Novak rose up through the Reform Party and was directly associated with people like Rob Anders and some other highly suspect and now banished folks who've tried to scam Canada one way or another.

I have always wondered what Rob Anders had on Harper that is so vital, because Anders is promoted and protected, even against the will of his own riding's riding association and established candidate election processes as set out by Elections Canada. Maybe Novak is a piece of the puzzle that resolves that puzzle. Rob Anders riding is right beside Stephen Harper's on Calgary's west side. What happened with the Anders/Harper/Novak situation that warrants such total commitment?”

“The US goes into a major budget debate in October that could unhinge the Obama administration, as the Republicans have said they'll attack with everything they've got. The call to war is an old US economic tool to give a jolt to the economy, but it is a suicidal tactic. The US economy is highly likely to sink again, as the US Petrodollar is being abandoned more and more globally, the Wall Street corruption means the Fed system and US finance system is built on false premises and MUST fall.

War boosts fortunes of war corporations. That pleases backers of the Democrats and Republicans, who are both corporate agents. By putting the vote of war to elected members of government, Obama dodges a superficial political bullet of accountability while still giving a direct path to war for the corporate cause.

The method: Corporations pay for political campaigns and control politicians throughout the year. Corporations write laws, change laws, assure the law is enforced or neglected. Corporations design huge projects and have them paid for by having the government borrow money from the Federal Reserve. CEOs walk away with huge profits at their whim. The projects are often not worthy. The middle class gets stuck with the bill and loses progressively more capacity to function over time. The middle class cannot take on more of these scams. System collapse will and must happen. New system needed urgently!”

“I'm not interested in personality cults, I want to know what the Liberal Party policy platform is and see results based on Liberal MPs and candidates taking political action to crush Harper and get something alternative going.

Same for the NDP and Green Party. Elizabeth May could not be doing a better job and the Green Party platform is admirable, developed, clear and active. The NDP, to want to abolish the Senate, is like the left hand to Harper's right hand; extremist and exclusionary. Canada is for everyone. Reform the Senate. Predatory dictators and their vested interest backers do not represent more than 0.01% of the population. Off with the masks!”

pegger1972 on Aug 28, 2013 at 09:33:04

“What I see Trudeau doing is not so much as building a "personality cult," but trying to divest himself of old Liberal baggage. By being so open and transparent he's taking away a lot of his opponents ammunition.

I still don't know if he'll "win" the next election - but he appears to be setting up for a marathon - rather than a sprint like the last two leaders.

Policy (especially economic policy) will still trump - but if he can pull off this "complete trust" transformation, he may pull more of the swing vote his way.

I'd rather vote for a party who I trust to keep their promises (even if they are weak), as opposed to a party that may or may not keep their promises - no matter how great those promises are (because I don't trust them to keep them).”
