“You know what? Even a year ago, I would have thought that was extremist conspiracy theorist nonsense (comparing the Harper government with Big Brother)... but it's becoming all too true, and extremely disturbing.”

“I let my doctor know that it helped lessen my chronic pain from fibromyalgia and helped me fall (and stay) asleep... I was then labeled as a drug addict. "Drug dependent" is now in my file, because I smoke a joint before I go to bed.”

“Trust me, the larger your body gets, the more your stomach stretches... it takes a lot more to fill you. I used to weigh over 350 lbs, and I could easily eat a large cheese pizza when I was that heavy. Now, I'm just under 200 lbs (still losing) and can hardly get through two pieces.”

“How in the world was what he said "fat shaming"? All he's saying is that health is important and that dieting isn't the way to be healthy.
Although he wasn't speaking about women in terms of women he's specifically been in romantic relationships with, I would like to add that if a woman is going to leave a man simply because he shows concern for her health, that man isn't losing much.”
“Actually, she can file a lawsuit, which she's doing... and will most likely win, since losing your freedom (for the duration of your sentence) is not the same as losing your rights (especially after your sentence has already been served). Not to mention, it's illegal for anyone to use the likeness of someone, without their permission, to gain profit.
Your logic implies she can't break the law without losing all rights and freedoms for the remainder of her life and that people can now, in turn, break the law, free of consequence, as long as they're doing it against someone who's already broken the law. That doesn't make a bit of sense, does it?”
“I sure hope this boyfriend is now an 'ex'... how sickening. If this man returns to the same home as this woman and the dog, I certainly hope the dog is taken from them and given a chance at a better home.”
“I'm educated in psychology and philosophy. I worked in childcare for years, at a daycare, and at an autism support centre, with raging blue hair, facial piercings, and visible tattoos... and have been praised by parents and employers. Some of my greatest role models, I looked up to as a child, had unconventional hair and/or body art. And, I can assure you, most of the deadbeats I run into, who should in no way be around children, ever, look positively 'normal'.
It's really sad that you might be sheltering your children from good people and exposing them to miscreants, simply because you judge a person's trustworthiness based on their appearance. I suggest a better way to gauge whether or not someone is trustworthy wild your children... actually getting to know the person.”

“Look at your credentials. There are acceptations to every rule. However, when you live in Vidor and going into a private home with no credential or references,. I don't think you should be overseeing kids without a thorough background check. Congratulations and I am a fan of tattoos and self-expression.”
“You must, since you took the time to comment on this article, when you could be reading about the Nobel Prizes.
Gender issues are also important, and very relevant to today's society. Besides, can't people read both?”

“Berniegerstein didn't say you can't read both. (S)he said they 'care more' about the Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Economics having been awarded. What interests me is that Steinem continues to complain that the culture needs to change, yet the bulk of the criticism against Miley has been to tell her to put her damn clothes ON and to STOP shaking her butt against a male crotch for the world to see. Clearly, the culture has changed. Steinem is so far out of the loop she has missed two important facts; a changed culture is at the very heart of the uproar and the only one who doesn't get it is Miley.”
“It's called Pepsi Retro around here (Atlantic Canada), but it's hard as hell to find.
I prefer Coke Zero (full of chemicals, I know, but I just plain find regular pop way too sweet). However, I think it's awesome that Pepsi has at least given people the option to enjoy pop without as much crap in it.”
“I'm going to give you some advice, as a gay atheist...
Don't be 'that' person, who can't discuss any topic without bringing up your sexuality, or persecuting those who may or may not have persecuted you. Seriously, some of my closest friends are Christians, who couldn't care less that I'm gay, or even an atheist. Don't be the person who's looking for a fight, everywhere you go, either... and if you do, stay on topic, since the (very few) people here who are denying climate change are pretty much spouting off pseudo-scientific rhetoric, and not blaming 'the gays' or chalking it up to tears from God. The type of Christians you describe are a (albeit very vocal) minority of people, since even most of the ones who 'do' condemn homosexuality don't deny basic science.
Immediately posting on the attack, rather than simply contributing something useful to the conversation, does nothing but attract criticism and further attack... why put yourself through that? You might be pleasantly surprised by the interesting and informative conversations you can have, if you just stick to the topic in the articles and present your ideas, without attacking another group of people. Besides, you might even educate and befriend someone who would have been nasty and judgmental towards you, if you just started out on the attack.
There will always be ignorant, judgmental people... don't join them.”

“I'm "looking for a fight?" I'm "that person?" Please, set it to music! Do you read their comments? All of them? I take umbrage at your imperious tone and linking me to their attacking ways. You do not know me or what I've gone through regarding this cult. I'm glad you're an atheist, but couldn't care less about your Christian friends. Lastly, just how many "interesting and informative" posts have you seen from their side?”
“Mray1224 is definitely wrong, singling out a group of people and picking on them, but that hardly makes that group 'right' (besides, if having more followers make a group right, Muslims most likely now outnumber Christians, considering the extremely rapid rate of decline of Christianity and rapid growth of Islam, and considering the fact that more than a billion of the 2.some billion people classified as Christian are only classified by default, based on location, and not because they actually identify as Christian).
It doesn't make it right to pick on religious people, but please try to understand that there is bound to be some animosity, when you consider how religious people have treated homosexuals, throughout history and even in current times.”

“Faith in God I said nothing about Christians. Most people believe in a god the once that don't are a sad misguided bunch. ”
“Wrong... the Antarctic ice has only expanded modestly compared to how much the Arctic ice has shrunk. I'm not sure if we're allowed to link here, or not, so I'll simply advise you to look it up on Nasa's website.”

“Perhaps this will ease your mind a little, too... just saw this in another article about the whole thing. "The original plan was to propose to her in her vehicle and not while she was sitting in the back of a police cruiser.
"I didn't expect it to happen that way. I was just as surprised as she was. He came over to me and said. ‘Oh, no. I think I took it too far,'"”
