“However it is not part of traditional native culture to kill animals for commercial profit. Moreover, many things that various cultures have done in the past are now considered barbaric. Just because something was done in the past does not make it right, ethical or practical. Her brother is a full-time hunter? Why? What does he do with all his prey? Is it all about money????”

“Actually hunting & trading of pelts, meat & oil to the European people that first came to Canada was done hundreds of years ago - so yes, commerical hunting activity is part of aboriginal culture.
Just because some don't like hunting doesn't make it wrong, unethical or barbaric. It is actually something that humans have done for thousands of years & the reason we survived.
Now I am not sure about the number of polar bears left or whether or not they're endangered but aboriginals have the right to hunt & fish as they see fit. Given global climate change, that day seems to be approaching but at the moment there is disagreement on the number of them left.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people are intolerant of other cultures or practices because they "don't like it". Too many people think their meals only come from a grocery store & do not understand where their food comes from.”

“Baloney! The seal hunt is Canada's shame! Bourdain, you are wrong! Not the chefs! The chefs have a conscience. It is one thing to hunt animals with respect for one's one survival; it is quite another to slaughter them heartlessly for profit! Let us encourage all Canadians and all people across the world to have a conscience and abolish ALL animal cruelty. It's well documented that those who cross the line and practice cruelty toward animals are desensitized toward humans as well. Where hunting is prevalent, so is child and spousal abuse. LET'S MAKE CANADA AN EXAMPLE OF DECENCY AND COMPASSION, NOT CRUELTY!”

“Getting a lesson in morality from Americans is like... well, you fill in the blanks. If hunting is such a scourge on society, why don't we boycott all American businesses until the government rounds up all the guns.”

“Get a clue. They are not endangered and less than one percent are taken every year. It's a sustainable hunt and will continue.
You are only angry because you think they are cute!”

“For heaven's sake! It sounds like the restaurant wasn't making it financially and creditors pulled the plug. They can come in without notice and change the locks. The owner could be losing everything, including his/her own house and vehicle(s). In a situation like this, everybody loses, but the owner loses the most.
Sending a text message was probably the best thing that could be done at the time.”

“Brazeau is not off -base. If you watch her interview on CTV with Kevin Newman, which took place toward the end of her "hunger strike", you will see her bursting out of her sweater's buttons. Surely she didn't go shopping and buy clothes that are too small for her for the interview??”

“"Environmental Activist" is what Peter Kent is supposed to be. His job is to protect the environment to the best of his ability for all Canadians and the planet. He does nothing but make excuses for not doing so. SHAME!”

“I would be very disappointed in the LPC if JT won the leadership. He had absolutely nothing of substance to say. We need much more from a party leader and definitely from a PM. Harper would have a field day with him. Trudeau is a big nothing! Common, Liberals! Use your brains!”

Yea, just like Brazeau did ......lol”

“Your last four words are an oxymoron. To think JT stole the light from Mark Carney who could have become the next Prime Minister of Canada. Instead, JT will guarantee majority Conservative governments for the next eight years, at least. Don't vote for someone's last name. Sheeesh!”
“Oh aren't you clever! If I am on a rant, it's about time! Anger at this time is the most appropriate emotivater to effect some change. The "good people" have to stop sitting back and letting the killers have their way. Yes, it's easy to say - the NRA is too powerful - they own the politicians - they've duped a large part of the population. All true. But, there are many of us who firmly believe that KILLING IS WRONG! Guns are not toys; guns are instruments of killing, of murder, of massacres. They do not belong in civilized societies. It's time for everybody who cares about life to "rant" and "march" and insist that these politicians start doing their jobs. Everyone of them who accepted money from the NRA or didn't stand up to them is responsible for this massacre. It has to stop!”
Dennis Schmunk on Dec 15, 2012 at 15:58:33
“The anger is appropriate. I think we all feel that. The NRA is culpable most of us will agree. It's when religion is invoked (the biggest cause of mass homicide ever) that rational people are inclined to say "hey just a minute"...”
“Every one who advocates for gun "rights" and/or owns a gun (and is not in law enforcement) is responsible for this and all the other massacres. IMO you are the enemy. You are murderers. You are traitors. You are sinners. THOU SHALT NOT KILL. Period.”

“this is not the time for bible crap and rants.”
Dennis Schmunk on Dec 15, 2012 at 15:36:50
“Sinners huh. Always helps a rational discussion when this comes up. Did you know that in the original bible (written in koine greek). The word sin comes from the greek word 'hamartia" a archers term meaning to miss the mark and advocating the archer keep trying to improve.
So you, ironically, are using a shooting term in your pious rant.”
“What utter nonsense! Statistically, the US with its hundreds of millions of guns and weapons is the most violent and most deadly nation in the world. It has no respect for life! All the so-called Christians have no respect for the 10 commandments, are the most ignorant, resent any form of education, and although they preach "constitution", haven't a clue about their own history or the basis for the constitution and its amendments. It's all nonsense!”
“"All that is necessary for the forces of evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing." The evil is the NRA and all those who have in their possession killing instruments. The "good people" must stand up. Now is not the time for prayer or candlelight vigils, or "poor us". Now is the time to get furious over what the NRA has perpetrated onto the country. Now is the time to stand up and fight back. Americans must stop solving interpersonal problems by killing each other. As long as there are guns in the home, this will be the problem-solver of choice.”
“All these "religious" zealots are anything but Christian. They are hate-mongers. They are the worst evil that exists on the earth today. There are limits to free speech. It's time to file criminal charges against these disgusting demons. All these "religious" are so used to telling people what to think, believe and do, that they have lost all ethics and morality. Lying is just part of the game. Hopefully there are enough people out there who see all this for what it is and have some "freedom" of thought left.”
“The US is no longer a democracy. The entire agenda is controlled by big money. People hear and see only what big money wants them to hear and see. Think only what they want you to thing. They require a dumb population to digest their nonsense - ergo - cut education at all levels and paint the educated negatively. It's Huxley's BRAVE NEW WORLD - it just didn't get there quite the same way as Huxley anticipated.”

“In the end it will fail. Freedom of information leads to truth. Here we are on the web, saying what we want to say. And when the electricity fails we can go back to sending smoke signals. Lies may have a big megaphone, but the truth whispers loud and clear in time, one word at a time.”
