“Affirmative on all counts. My views were related to this and similar incidents in recent years, however, I can see how it may give the appearance of a broad stroke. As for the NRA, I consider them a great organization serving several million gun owners in a responsible manner. Regretfully, a segment of their organization has taken control of the rudder and are attempting to steer the NRA towards becoming an instigator on behalf the minority within the organization which does not do justice to the majority of responsible gun owners and members.”

“This is the net result of the NRA and gun rights groups pushing to expand the envelope of the Second Amendment. Most rational people who fear for their safety would not open the door and investigate or call a friend / husband or fiancée who is miles away but, rather, contact the police, immediately. The fever pitch over Stand Your Ground style laws over the last 6 years, in particular, has more to do with erasing the thin blue line between law enforcement and wannabe(s) who yearn to return to the days of the Wild West than the right to defend yourself when there is an imminent or perceived threat.”

labroadt on Dec 9, 2013 at 18:58:24

“You do realize that many gun owners don't grab their gun when someone knocks on their door late at night. You also realize that most people stay inside and call the police, they don't go outside and investigate. There are many responsible gun owners out there who take gun safety seriously and not all gun owners belong to the nra.”
Rob Ford Booed At Remembrance Day Ceremony

Rob Ford Booed At Remembrance Day Ceremony

Commented Nov 11, 2013 at 13:53:11 in Canada Politics

“Controversy aside. Mr. Ford is the mayor of Toronto. It is his civic duty, if not a personal choice, to pay his respects on Remembrance Day. It is, also, a day to set aside personal feelings, grievances or animosities regardless of your political leanings which includes not tarnishing the ceremony with a Boo directed at the mayor.”

LNWells on Nov 11, 2013 at 14:07:31

“If your personal behaviour has turned every single day of work into a circus show- you may choose to avoid bringing the circus to town on Remberance Day as a sign of respect.
But that thought ...like many others...has never occured to Rob Ford.”

The Merlin on Nov 11, 2013 at 14:07:26

“= = = I respectfully totally disagree with you. It is the OFFICE of the Mayor that is to honor the Fallen and Survivors of wars. A more honorable person should have represented the Mayor’s Office of Toronto than the person that soiled its reputation. Rob Ford has not shown any respect for the Toronto’s Mayor’s Office. A dishonorable person such as Rob Ford should have stepped aside; but then again, what do you expect?”

Turdinthepunchbowl on Nov 11, 2013 at 13:58:12

“I don't agree with the booing, but Ford picks and chooses which civic duties he "honours," and this is neither civil nor respectful.”

“This dog & pony show had little to do with the shutdown and freedom. It was a showcase for the Tea Party activists' idols, Sen. Cruz and Sarah Palin. It was a platform for their views of America, their misconceptions and rhetoric, their increasingly overt hatred for any American that disagrees with them, doesn't look like them and is not a faux Christian. Since 2003, the far right has fanned the embers of the KKK's mindset and the group has resurfaced as the Tea Party activists.”

“In recent years, all of the 24hr cable news networks have taken the bait when it comes to faux stories. They are finding it increasingly difficult to fill 24hrs per day although there is no shortage of legitimate stories and incidents to go around. The cable networks have been sucked into the TWITter, Facebook vortexes of instant gratification for millions with little or no attention span and even less use for facts. Incidents such as this one will increase with frequency over the next few years.”

Commented Jul 30, 2013 at 11:40:58 in Business

“I can appreciate the employees plight but we have crossed over into a new reality worldwide. The neo conservative push for lower wages, longer work days and weeks, no benefits, attempting to modify child labour laws in the U.S. and the unfounded excuse that any benefits paid to employees will put them out of business have taken root like a cancer on our societies. The neo cons have worked hard since their global coup d'état in the 80's (Reagan, Thatcher, Mulroney to name a few) to utilize governing bodies to cobble together a society where their needs are primary and the rest od us are subservient. Breaking news folks; it will only get worse for working class folks like us from here on in.”

“Over the last 10 yrs, Trump has had the profitable sense to lend his name and expertise to similar projects but he does not invest his own money anymore. Those who invest in such projects cling to the hope that the Trump brand will bring in the high-end buyers. The Trump name is springing up in the Middle East, it hovers over Las Vegas and continues to dominate the high-end New York market but he collects fees and royalties while those seeking his brand cough up the cash. He may be brash, annoying, and as the last U.S. election proved, ignorant (not synonymous with level of education), but he has good business survival instincts which his children appear to have inherited. Whether the project is successful or fails, Trump rakes in the cash as long as the building carries his name.”

However, there are stores where I've seen the same employees for several years and they appear to have no interest in customer service. In Canada, it's the mindset that the store is doing the customer a favor by serving them which frustrates customers.”

“They key problem with Canadian Tire, Loblaws, Rona, Reno Depot and their American counterparts (in their Canadian stores) is customer service. With few exceptions, it is difficult to locate an employee who can assist me in quest for an item. When they are not hiding, they are congregating (as mentioned in a comment below) and ignore a customer's plea for help. Whenever one ventures from the pack, they never seem to be the person assigned to the department you are in or cannot answer your question without reading the item description on the box or package. Thank you for trying but I can read the instructions on my own but those don't answer pertinent questions one may have about the product. Renovate and re-invent all you want but poor service is the source of their ills. Somehow, when you cross the border into the U.S., customer service is a high priority.”

Most are, probably, convinced that Karl Rove is correct in stating that Obama did not win the election. Most of their viewers are ocnvinced Obama is not born in the U.S., is a radical Muslim and has a photos of Marx, Stalin and Mao in his office. Thus, they could not care less about the inauguration.”

“What is required is an organized assault via internet and communications devices to cram, jam and overwhelm Bell's and Rogers network everyday until someone listens. The negative side of such actions would be the punitive effects on those who work from home and depend on the network to earn a living which brings us back to suffering in silence. Until there is open, legitimate competition in Canada that is not linked to Bell or Rogers via subsidiaries, we're sitting ducks.”

“I'll give you the point on choosing who you wish to cater to in your establishment. If one causes a disturbance or doesn't conform to a dress code or criteria for the customers you seek, you have every right as long as they are aware they are not welcomed. What you cannot do is target someone based on your beliefs or bias or insinuate based on your mere observations of behavior. That is prejudicial and the person you targeted has the starting point for a defamatory suit against you.”

“We've read about an increasing number of instances, in recent years, where people who choose to deal with the public to earn a living have brought their personal beliefs or convictions to the job. Not appropriate. You are free to be true to your beliefs, religious or otherwise, however when you earn your living serving the public at large or work with people who do not share your beliefs, you shelve them once you're on the job unless it is part of your job to preach, debate or lecture about your beliefs If you own a business, it is not your place to comment on, suggest to or lecture your customers. If you work in the service industry or have taken an oath (hippocratic or to the laws of the land), your personal convictions must be left at the door. I've been mocked by co-workers for thanking God for the food I have with me for lunch and for my health. I don't go into a lecture, speech or hand them a Bible. I let it go. God will judge them.”

“Mr. Jones may lack eloquence but he is passionate about his beliefs. Mr. Jones continues to misrepresent the point that pro gun control advocates are preaching which is to limit certain weapons form mass market sales. Mr.Jones eploits the misnomer that ATF agents will be kicking down doors and taking people's guns. However, that misnomer is part of a well executed campaign by gun manufacturers and it doesn't cost them a penny. Mr. Jones and those of his convictions are promoting gun sales, indirectly, and the industry loves it. Mr. Jones, also, suffers from the same hypocrisy that plagues faux constitution defenders; you're entitled to free speech unles we don't like what you say.

There is one item that I do agree with;that 9/11 was planned and executed by the U.S. government to create a state of perpetual fear so the neo cons, once back in power, can continue to dilute the rights of the majority. Cheney, Wolfowitz and Richard Perle are the unholy trinity and the true faces of evil.”
