“I agree that it wasn't really "bullying." He was just trying to engage her and get a rise out of her. Seriously impressed with that young girl, though, even though I, too, disagree with Dan Cathy and the groups he helps fund. Good point.”

“I can't stand "Lady Gaga." The minute I first saw/heard her, I was like, "Oh, my. What a PATHETIC Madonna-wannabe." Seriously, it's offensive to me. No one can compete with Madge, says this lady who was a teen in the 80s. Not that Madonna is some hugely talented rock star or anything, but at least, at the time, she was an original. And I LOVED me some Madonna tunes in the day (and Vogue still gets me dancing). Gaga is 100% repulsive to me. I hope Madonna was getting her digs in. She earned that right, and Gaga deserves it.”

“Offensive? Seems like you need a life, dear.”
Why I Told My Kids About My Eating Disorder

Why I Told My Kids About My Eating Disorder

“You're joking, right, Tcan? Yes. Let's lie to the children. Let's perpetuate the fantasy that life is all sunshine and rainbows and lollipops and unicorns and there's no ugliness or sadness in this big, beautiful world. I think it takes WAY more courage to "come clean" with your children...because guess what? THEY KNOW. They KNOW something is "different" about mom. They know something is not right. And guess what else? They deserve the truth. I don't believe in the "copycat" theory AT. ALL. Addiction is genetic. Period. What the addicted person's "vice" will be -- cigarettes? gambling? pornography? food/eating disorder? heroin? booze? -- is the only true variable. Take off the rose colored glasses and come clean with your kids. You don't think they deserve the truth? They'll eventually find out and distrust and resent you for keeping it from them, in my most humble opinion.”

“If the article was about telling the children about an illness she dealt with in the past and overcame it, then I may have considered it a positive thing to tell them. But by her own admission, those poor children had to ask her if she was going to eat that night or just watch, called her a dinosaur when they were made to see her emaciated state, and had to miss out on the extremely important loving and bonding moments of being tucked into bed. If allowing your children to see you in that state whether it is an eating disorder or alcoholism or a crack addict, it is abusive and no amount of talking about it makes it better or ever takes those awful memories away. Knowing "why" mommy was different doesn't help anyone other than mommy to unburden herself on those already vulnerable children.”

“Exactly what I was thinking, MKJo. Oh, how emotionally tramuatizing for the author of this piece to inherit a HUGE STINIKING DIAMOND. Self serving piece, here. Entitled. Story like this might have warmed MY heart if it had been told about another person (in the third person), or if the author decided the best thing to do with it was to sell it and give the proceeds to charity. Ick. This just turned my stomach (and, no, it's not jealousy -- I have diamonds, too). Just ick. And yellow gold? So 80s. Double ick.”

destiny smith on Dec 9, 2012 at 21:47:09

“Then why dont you go and sell your diamonds and give the proceeds to charity you hypocrite? why should anyone sell an heirloom?”

rdaffron on Dec 9, 2012 at 13:49:42

“You must be really fun to be around.”
