“The only black mark in Bill Blair's career might be how the Toronto Police acted during the G8/G20 weekend. I would really, someday, like to hear Chief Blair's side of that story. It just seems to me those actions did not fit in with this mans character. It would not be a stretch to imagine the muscle Harper used here, with the $1.2 Billion of our tax money he spent for security alone.
Pay back could be achieved if, in the 2015 election, he took a Conservative seat away for the Liberals or NDP.”

“Ok Terry, they call it the biggest mining disaster in BC history. It is also one of the biggest mining disasters in Canadian mining history and will therefore be affected by Federal jurisdiction.
You seem to be good at digging up figures, so let's see what you can come up with regarding Edward's donations to the Federal Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.”

“A cursory search shows Edwards ties to Harper and the tar sands in a big way. I'm sure if you dig a bit you'll find what you're looking for.
"Edwards has more at stake in the Canadian oil sands than possibly any other individual. His company, Canadian Natural Resources, has sketched out plans to spend $25 billion to turn the bitumen-bearing sand found in northern Alberta into barrels of crude oil. This media shy lawyer-turned financier also owns big stakes in Ensign Energy, Canada's second biggest oil services company, and Penn West, one of Canada's biggest energy trusts."

““Are there any reporters out there enterprising enough to question Murray Edwards on the matter? Murray Edwards owns the Calgary Flames and has a net worth of $2.2 Billion.
He also owns 36% of Imperial Metals and they in turn own 100% of Mount Polley Mines.
After years of government warnings Edwards and the other shareholders decided that an apology after the fact would suffice. Charges should be laid and taxpayers should not be on the hook for this preventable tragedy.””

“We have always had and probably always will have a two-tier justice system. If I poisoned my neighbour's well (for example), I would be held liable and I would have to not only clean up the water supply but also pay damages in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Let a mining company poison the water for an entire ecosystem and, hey, let's just say "sorry".”

“Murray Edwards should find his Calgary Flames boycotted and him removed as owner, the only thing this man cares about is $$$. His personal fortune should be used to clean-up the mess from the spill.”

“Nothing of any consequence will happen to the owner of the Mount Polly mine. Christy Clark and her government will cover this up and here's why.
Mount Polley owner one of Liberals’ biggest donors
Back in January 2013, two men – Murray Edwards and Rod Love – put on a $125 per plate fundraiser in Calgary for the BC Liberals, prior to last provincial election. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find that various companies in which Calgary billionaire and Flames owner Edwards is a major investor gave an additional $482,857 to the BC Liberals over the last several years:
Imperial Metals: $178,300
Canadian Natural Resources: $153,480
Penn West Petroleum: $65,835
Mount Polley Mining: $46,720
Resorts of the Canadian Rockies: $23,522
Ensign Drilling: $15,000 (source: Elections BC)

“When Obama said "they don't make anything" was he referring to Russia or Canada?
At least Obama is making some effort to reverse the devastating effects of Reaganomics.
You wonder why business and industry still backs Harper? It is because he is still letting the cream rise to the top where it is being skimmed and deposited in offshore bank accounts rather than reinvested in Canada's economy. Harper keeps chugging along adhering to a Libertarian economic policy that even Alan Greenspan has renounced and a reliance on oil that even Putin has found does not work.”

“The term colonization is out. It is now called globalization.
If you are the biggest and the strongest why would you not use it to form colonies? Oops sorry, I mean globalize? It sure worked well in the past.
After all, obsequious leaders like Harper make it so easy. And the world of today is full of them.”

If he could, Harper would sell the parliament buildings to do the same.”

“I don't hate Harper but I hate what he is doing to this country.
I was in business for almost 60 years and know that the vast majority of CEOs are not crooks. I was'nt. The problem is that if the Chief broke the law then charge him but there are enough crooked CEOs breaking similar laws that will not be standing in the docks beside him. Of course the man should be charged but it is understandable, that in the political/ business world we have created, a misguided soul might try his chance at the brass ring when so many others are getting away with it. Not what a Con likes to hear, I guess.”

“Nope. Raising money to spend on economic development is not the same as benefitting from the results of economic development. When the Chief Thief takes $800,000 from the funds intended for economic development, that leaves less funds for the actual development. If he earns a bonus from the profits that result from that investment, good for him. But that is not what he did.
And I got your point. You hate Harper, and think CEO's are crooks. Good for you. The Chief still took money that should have beneffited his people. And that is a crappy thing to do.”
Jul 31, 2014 at 21:49:04
“A bonus for economic development. Where have I heard that before, again, and again? We keep preaching to First Nations that they should run things in a white man's businesslike manner. So, when they do this is what results. CEOs in the financial sector grab yearly incomes of tens of millions of dollars in whatever manner they can get away with and it does'nt even get a mention. Are we so naive as to believe that Harper and his ilk will live out their pension years with a mere $18,000 a month? Hypocrisy is when people who steal millions come down on those who steal thousands. It may not be justified wherever it happens, but let's get real here.”

“I would love an example of a CEO of a company with 80 employees making $900,000! And that 80 is a stretch -- that is the number of members of the whole tribe.
But hey -- the money only comes from the pockets of the other natives in the tribe, so who cares right? Not you, I take it.”

“Thanks Leo for putting this disclosure gambit to rest. Exactly, CEO's in the 'white' mans world earn millions. I think steve is betting the farm on the Jewish vote, while doing anything and everything to discredit First Nations people. Remember stevo, no playee nicee with First Nationee people, no pipelinee.”
“Yes Nicholas, and don't forget that a good portion of those millions were for "defensive" missile bases surrounding Russia from Romania, Turkey, Poland, and soon Ukraine. NATO seems bound to get us into a war. I guess western warmongering right wing leaders miss the old wall. They seem to want to bring it back by contravening the agreements to leave the Eastern States as buffer zones. Star Wars Reagan must be smiling in his grave.”

Experience has shown that when people speak this way it is not in your best interest to take it as an act of friendship.
My years in business brought me in contact with many who were Conservative as well as many Jews some of which were Conservative.
I cannot recall of any that would be naive enough to fall for this disgusting exhibition of self serving hypocrisy.”

“I took a boat ride up the Rideau River today.
The size of the many mansions being built along the shoreline are astounding.
One passenger in the boat wondered if they were small hotels.
Our present policies allow the money to rise to the top..............and there it stays. It goes into luxury living and offshore bank accounts for the few.
We have held this trickle down policy long enough to have proof that the money is not being reinvested to increase our productive capacity.
Meanwhile money I have saved for all my 60 years of working life depletes while it gathers nothing. The alternative is suffering another Nortel.
Whether bank interest is at 10% or 5% is irrelevant to the bank as long as they get their spread of 4%. But the one advantage the 5% gives them is that a lot more suckers line up to gamble on loans they may not be able to repay.
As Rudyard Kiplling's old priest said to Kim "you are on the wrong wheel".”

“What's wrong with Ontario started with Mike Harris and his Teapartyites. With their anti government stance they were bent on returning the province back to the hewers of wood and drawers of water it once was. People like Clements, Baird, and Flaherty were not satisfied with trashing the province from Toronto so they moved to Ottawa to finish the job. Now the whole country is moving towards being hewers of wood and drawers of oil. Past experience has shown that these opportunistic ideologue trogolytes will punish Ontario for voting the wrong way. Go Kathleen, it is time to fight back.”
