“Perhaps people are relieved to not be expected to look up to a politician, despite all their foibles, as a welcome change. Expectations are quite low for Ford, so it seems.”

“In politics, identity is often the single strongest thing in play. Many people (the Ford Nation) have chosen to identify with Rob Ford. The harder you bash on Ford, even if it is 100% justified, the more they will rally around him. You will not shake them loose.

That being said, that 49% poll was taken just after the Scarborough subway announcement, so it was a temporary boost.”

“Treaties are not welfare they are basically this country's founding documents, which were made between two sovereign nations. Also you talk about "Canadians" wanting a fair economic playing field, well if that was the case why did the government of Canada introduce the Indian Act which made it impossible for First Nations people to conduct business without permission from the Federal government? Doesn't sound fair to me. Also if the playing field is so tilted if favor of First Nations peoples in Canada why are they dis proportionally poor and in prison compared to the rest of the country. Doesn't sound like any advantage to me.”
