Adoption Rates Hit New Low With More Children Left In Care

Adoption Rates Hit New Low With More Children Left In Care

“It is so difficult to adopt children in this country.
You need to be the perfect weight, on an amazing salary, cannot smoke, live in a private house etc. I believe they are asking a minority to adopt children - it is not surprising the adoption statistics have gone down.”

“@ Redhunteur

You really should read my previous posts. I said I would like all religions to be taught in schools not just ONE. Get off the old high horse and open your eyes - children should be allowed to believe in whatever religion they wish to believe in. This is why students are taught Religious Education through till sixth form!

But to be fair you are no better. You have already placed me in your fictitious box of being ignorant and believing everybody hates me because I am a Christian. One who does not go to Church or pray before dinner mind you, a very lazy bugger actually... Point is you need to stop judging and forcing your opinion onto everybody if you cannot listen to others.

Religion is not a huge part of life in Britain but who are we to deny children it? And I still maintain it would be a shame if children missed out on the stories from ANY religious book. Let's make children aware and allow them to choose what they want for themselves.”

Redhunteur on Sep 9, 2011 at 07:49:45

““You really should read my previous posts. I said I would like all religions to be taught in schools not just ONE.”

Well I don’t read the literally thousands of posts each day. Perhaps you could kindly point that fact out, especially in light of me mentioning the same thing again and again.

“Get off the old high horse”? Really… You should stop projecting. I offered up an opinion based off the story and within the frames of what you said to me directly. I’m not being indignant, I merely said your stance didn’t surprise me based on your admitted bias on the subject.

“But to be fair you are no better. You have already placed me in your fictitious box of being ignorant and believing everybody hates me because I am a Christian.”

No. You are wrong. I don’t believe that and I don’t care either way what you believe, I was simply responding to your comment from the other day. You do seem to think pretty highly of yourself based on this post however. But don’t worry; I don’t think you are special in the least.”

“I do not understand why you are so bitter and almost hateful towards me because I am a Christian.

If you would like I could be as aggressive as you are and simply say, "This is a Christian Country" but to me this isn't a Christian country. We have a wide range of people from all sorts of backgrounds and religions.

What is wrong with Scientology and Satanism? Satanism is believing in yourself (from what I've read) and Scientology is... aliens? Just because you do not believe in them does not take away their purpose.”

Redhunteur on Sep 8, 2011 at 04:34:46

““I do not understand why you are so bitter and almost hateful towards me because I am a Christian.”

I don’t understand why christians always assume they are being persecuted. My point is; No ONE religion should be taught in public schools.

“If you would like I could be as aggressive as you are and simply say, "This is a Christian Country" but to me this isn't a Christian country. We have a wide range of people from all sorts of background¬s and religions.”

Which is exactly why it’s wrong to teach ONE religion.

“What is wrong with Scientolog¬y and Satanism? Satanism is believing in yourself (from what I've read) and Scientolog¬y is... aliens? Just because you do not believe in them does not take away their purpose.”

Just because they exist doesn’t mean they should be the ONE religion taught in public schools.

You getting’ it yet?”

“Incorrect.
I do not have a problem with any religion being taught. Just because MY religion is taught more widespread does not make me blind.”

Redhunteur on Sep 7, 2011 at 08:48:19

“I see. So if Scientology or Satanism was the only religion being taught you'd be okay with that? If so then you hold wildly different views than I do as I don't see the need to teach any of them in school.

Still not surprising that a christian supports the teaching of christianity in school though.”

“I was speaking from my /own/ personal experience.

I would happily support other religions being represented and taught in schools due to the fact religion is a personal choice. If the local state school my child went to taught the beliefs of Islam, Judaism, Hinduism etc then that would be fantastic.

If my child came home and told me he or she had been learning about let's say... Hinduism and they feel it is more relevant to them and they would like to pursue this religion then I would not stop them. Why would I?

Children should make their own decisions on what they believe. I used Christianity as my example as I was subjected to Christianity in my school and I believed it. I was never baptised and I do not believe children are FORCED to believe in state schools any more.”

“Even I remember praying and singing hymns every Friday for an entire hour. How I loathed it at the time and yet now I strangely appreciate it. I am by no means a religious fanatic but it did make me aware of Christianity which I do believe in.

I also remember the Christian workshop that used to come in. They would put on mini theatrical performances often acting out the Good Samaritan and parting the Red Sea. It would be a shame if kids missed out on this. I believe you can believe in a different religion and yet still appreciate the wonderful biblical stories which are told in Primary school.”

HeartScot on Sep 7, 2011 at 04:44:07

“You're personal experience just goes to show that, the collective religious indoctrination of children works.”

Redhunteur on Sep 7, 2011 at 04:39:18

“Odd how that support surfaces when it involves the religion that you ultimately adhered to.”

Bill J4321 on Sep 6, 2011 at 20:29:27

“So, you undoubtedly would support other religions being represented in schools, right?

Not just 'christianity' but ALL religions, right?

I'm sure there are other 'holy books' besides the bible that have wonderfully delightful lessons and stories for your own children to act out in 'mini theatrical performances,' as well, right?

You don't mind YOUR children being forced to particiapte in another's religion, right?

Being that you are so open-minded and everything...”

“I am pleased to read that somebody understands John Lennon was not an angel.
I am a huge Beatles fan and have read a lot of biographies based on the Fab 4 and John really could be cold hearted. I recommend anybody reading John by Cynthia Lennon - it shows both his wonderful, generous side and then his downright evil side.

John was a complicated character (like most people) but I think it's wrong we rely on John Lennon's image as the symbol of peace. Because let's face it - the man could not even find peace within himself.”

Will Kenya Airways Deport Tortured Gay Ugandan?

Commented Aug 18, 2011 at 11:23:40 in UK

“Normally I would say; "If he is here illegally then send him home" but this is awful. Poor man - I hope he is free to remain in this country if there if a high chance he will be tortured for his homosexuality.

But I am afraid a lot of people will claim they are gay to remain in this country...”

Reshaping the Education System is our Collective Challenge

Commented Aug 18, 2011 at 06:51:46 in UK Universities & Education

“You make a valid point.
But there are so many niche courses, too many actually and these courses lead people to nowhere. The Government PAY for these courses (because Students Loans is the Government) and the people who passed rarely get a fantastic job with a diploma in Script Writing. So they will work in retail for £12,000 a year and never pay back their course.”

harryjan on Aug 19, 2011 at 05:26:10

“Yes I agree I am sure their are many who never repay the full amount, but as I state in my post further up there are to few options for school leavers looking for employment with serious career prospects apart from going to University. The message from schools, LEA's, & central government for years has been that university (whatever course you do) will always lead to gainful employment with good prospects and this is just not the case!”
