“Micheal Pollan is a food writer calling a gluten free diet a fad, and Peter Gibson a professor who did a study on 37 people trying out some diets for a week. Maybe people should pay more attention to a neurologist like David Perlmutter MD, who has a 4 week plan and exposes that weather your celiac or not, you benefit not only by dropping a few pounds but also you benefit with long term brain health as well. The science is out on this topic, Dementia, ADHD, epilepsy, anxiety, chronic headaches, depression, and much more can be managed by simply dropping gluten and increasing healthy fats in your diet.”

DebbyM on Jun 10, 2014 at 13:40:37

“I think what you're saying Paul is that it's important to check the source and in the second case, the size/value of the study (37 people, is that all?)”

vaslor on Jun 3, 2014 at 10:19:39

“Dr Gibson is THE ORIGINAL Dr who conducted the first study on so called "gluten intolerance". He wasn't satisfied so he did a followup study where he fed these people their every meal and did full blood, fecal and urine workups and concluded his original study was bogus. Your belief in Gluten Intolerance started with him, and now that he's disproven his own initial results, you refuse to believe him? Science is tricky but belief is a powerful thing, I see.”

“Sorry, this may be a little long. Our Social Fabric in this country needs a bit of mending. Mental illness and addiction takes its toll and seems to compound itself on those with unfortunate paths. Best thing to do is to 1. Educate our children, do not undermine the education system with cuts to services and provide useful apprenticeship training near the end of high school so kids are able to have meaningful work that pays. 2. provide proper mental and addiction treatment facilities to get people off the streets so they may contribute to society. Unfortunately the old conservative ways would have us lock up these people and throw away the key, which does nothing to help these unfortunate souls. I think this country can do a lot better to help its own people and make sure the next generation can contribute to a better economy.”

Letting companies self regulate is like accepting the word of an oil company saying "just trust us, your in good hands". The more expensive oil gets the better off society will be, thats when you will see new and improved innovation in the technologies that will eventually replace fossil fuels. The days of cheap oil are done time to evolve and become good examples to the world and become proud Canadians once again.
And Yes, We will continue using oil from some time to come but maybe considerably less whether we like it or not.”

“Sure you can call Al Gore a hypocrite if you like but this man is accurate when he says that there is No ethical oil. What many people fail to realize is that oil companies are actually the primary cause of most wars, greed, death and suffering that exists on our little world of plastic crap that our society craves.
For starters We need to ween ourselves off the dependency of fossil fuels and let the Geothermal, Hydrogen and Solar energy technologies flourish.
Its really hard to find good leadership these days, there's all kinds of warning signs out there, Gore and Suzuki have been trying to educate us for years but humans are at there best when facing catastrophes, I hope it doesn't take a city being swallowed up by the ocean, because that will never happen... right?”

There are subsidies payed to solar energy ,wind energy and several others, but they are still more expensive than oil or gas. People are still struggling with the high cost of living .All levels of governments are finding new ways to pull more money out of the average persons pay. Find a way to lower these cost and be part of a solution instead of steady complaining.By the way nobody was complaining about the oil companies in the 80 and 90s when oil was below $ 20 per barrel.”

That there are alternatives is the big lie of the loony left. Until we have cars like in Back to the Future that uses fusion we will burn and continue to burn carbon fuels.”
