“Talking politics at the dinner table is a great way to wreck a great meal. A saying I once heard that made great sense went something like this: " You will rarely if ever change someone's opinion on religion, politics or sports teams by discussion or argument. It is a hugely futile waste of time." Arguments over meals with family or friends is bad for digestion, makes one of the rare non- conflict times when we can be with one another into just another stressed out meeting and destroys another of the more civilized things we have created. Seek out peace. Talk politics elsewhere UNTIL people's ego gets in on the action, then walk away.”

“There will come a day when Harper will step aside. Mackay is hoping to be the next leader as a reward for bastardizing the Progressive Conservative reputation for the sake of getting back into power. He's sold his soul once. He's just trying to set the stage to claim he is different than the old crew running the party under Harper. Trust him again at your peril, true Progressive Conservatives.”

“Moving your content behind paywalls will be suicide for "newspapers". You can find anything they provide for free on the internet and usually with a more in depth analysis and less political "spin". I am personally glad to see their greed turn against them. There is no more quality reporting going on, only re-posting from Reuters and other agencies for the most part. The dream and nightmare of free flowing information (and opinions), will finally happen. Better? Worse? Who knows. There will be more B.S. to filter through, more people trying to affect how we think and drive our opinions, with facts and lies. Just like now but with a more democratic side (everybody can participate instead of only the rich controlling the media.) You can always count on evolution. Have a great day.”

What about ( point your finger in direction here, at any discernible group) and their sins? Let he who has never sinned cast the first stone anyone?”

“Not sure what you mean here. I'm critical of most people, including myself. I agree with your comment.

I responded to your comment about selling to hipsters, that is all. Not really talking about sinning, so this has become confusing.

Hipsters are hipsters for a reason. They care about how they look, who they hang with, what bands they see, etc. They make empty statements all the time. They typically don't work at places that pay great salaries. Cost-effectiveness is huge for them, thus their love for thrift shops.

My comment was to point out that they don't care about whether or not the product they purchase is produced in an ethical way. They may say it, but they don't mean it. ”

Canadians have been quite naïve thinking it was rare or only other countrys' problem. Where there is greed there is corruption. Where there are 1%, there is a rigged system and being exploited by money greasing wheels for the ones with the money to buy or rent what they want to get richer. A simple test to apply to any suspicious situation: Follow the money. Who benefits financially.”

“Actually, yes I was. Taking turns between illegitimate "majorities" bothers me a great deal regardless of what party is doing it. Having governments completely disregard 62% of the population until the next election makes no sense and is a joke as far as MY definition of democracy goes. We're supposed to be intelligent and driven to improve society but we feel it makes sense for REAL debate to be shelved for 4 years as a party pushes its unexamined and sometimes secret agenda down our throats? No wonder confidence in government and politicians is at an all time low. Would any of us accept this type of treatment in our homes and relationships? Why justify it in government where it has real long term consequences to EVERYBODY?”

There is a list of posters on this site we can all recognize that to me epitomize what the Conning Reformers are all about. Their belittlement of everything that isn't blindly pro ConningReformers as a way of attempting to argue their point speaks volumes as to the reactionary, vested interest, close minded party they support. They just re-inforce what this government shames itself doing every day to Canadians. Keep justifying the mudslinging Cons. Keep slinging mud instead of persuading through dialogue. Keep secretly sticking it to freedom and democracy. Lets see where that gets you.”

Joe Canadian can hardly afford the expense of time to do such a thing and so many said laws are still in place today. I expect some toady to ask me to name a bunch of such cases. Find them yourself. Wake up and pay attention. It isn't a back and forth exchange on this page that would wake up said toady anyway. Any posters have the patience to site examples, be my guest.”

Doesn't that mean he should NOT be eligible to be a Senator for PEI? Doesn't that mean he fraudulently collected a salary as a Senator for PEI? Doesn't that mean he should either pay back his salary he collected as a Senator all these years? Or better yet, he should not have any of the privileges against prosecution that a Senator can claim, because he is an illegitimate Senator in the first place. Any body care to comment?”

“You can't change what other people say by shouting louder than them. That just makes everybody deaf eventually. Be it the president or the other parties or any special interest group you care to point to, they will do what they will do. You can only control your actions. In answer to your question of what else is there?: There are your and my ACTIONS. Actions speak louder than words. We can join in the yelling and nobody will listen or hear or change, or we can prove by our actions that we as men and women do not live up to the negative descriptions each group professes describes the other. Treat everybody the way you would like to be treated. Respect everybody the way you would expect them to respect you. Show the fairness to others you would like to see from them. This may sound familiar but it actually is just a plain old boring recipe that works that every major religion on earth claims as their own but so few actually apply. No glitz, no drama, no genius of the year award. But it works. You probably have success with it in your own life in more ways than you realize. Actions speak louder than words. Have a great day.”

“You are right, I know of certain lawyers that refuse to do family law precisely because they know how the industry perpetuates disputes for the sake of billable hours. One once revealed that the role of a divorce lawyer is fulfilled by ending the dispute by bankrupting the complainants into walking away from the situation (no winners except the lawyers). Not all lawyers are morally corrupt to that point, although they do as a profession seem to attract people who can square a round peg if it enriches them.”
