“She actually had six weapons in the house and she kept them in the basement where her mentally disturbed son lived.”

“Yep, Nancy Lanza definitely was not playing with a full deck herself.”

“It was much harder in my day. We had to deal with things your lazy generation can't imagine. We had the Cold War going on and were worried about nuclear weapons exploding any day. You read about the Cuban Missle Crisis. Well I lived through it and you have no idea how it feels to have a bunch of nuclear weapons aimed at you. You have to go to University to get a job big deal. You didn't have World War 2 going on like my father. He was dodging bullets and mortars in Europe while you worry about Black Friday or what the latest gizmo is. I lived through 18% mortgage rates. People declaring backruptcy by the thousands. Families leaving the keys in the house because of banks foreclosing. Every generation has its own unique set of circumstances. Quit complaining and growup.”

“LOL, the cold war! Boomers didn't have to deal with WW2. Thanks, I needed the laugh!”

“To address your original post, there has never been a single generation in the history of man that has avoided the threat of war. Clearly you’re completely unaware of what’s going on in the Middle East right now? Or what’s going on in Europe with resurfacing of fascism. You’re making a lot of assumptions about Generation Y or rather that the norm is an absolute trend without differentiation, and in that you’re down right wrong. The old and ignorant enjoy frivolous things just as much as the young and ignorant. And are you talking right now about now with what’s going on in the economy? Because we’re going through that too in case you hadn’t noticed… Quit whining and complaining? You’re whining and complaining about others whining and complaining! Besides, that’s what democracy is all about, dissent.”

“I posted a few things on here you should read.”

“You don't get to cast stones, as a baby boomer yours was the generation that doomed us gen x'ers to being the first generation t oface a lower standard of living then the generation before us. Your generation continues to screw things up by voting republican/conservative, destroying the environment, supporting trickle down economics, and perpetuating the debt cycle. Don't you get all high and mighty about how you have it hard.”

“Kids nowadays are so lazy and spoiled. Just the other day I saw a young feller wearing a hat indoors. In my day he would have got a whipping and he would have thanked me afterwards. I got a job in 1974 after I finished my grade 10 at an auto company. I worked there for 30 years and am fully retired. Young people today are coddled my their moms and dads who think every Tom, Dick, and Harry is special. They weren't special in my day and aren't special today.”

“Times change. Most auto manufacturers now require a post-secondary degree or trade certificate of some kind before they even look at your application. No employer offers or guarantees long term employment today. It's a whole different world and even the smart, ambitious, hard working kids have a hard time finding work because there are not enough jobs for them all. Out sourcing and globalization.”

GoldDustDreams on Nov 26, 2012 at 12:33:24

“You really are miserable, aren't you? I'd love to see you get that same job with a grade 10 education today. Oh wait, you couldn't. And you'd probably get laid off if you had a full time job because the auto industry is dwindling in North America. So maybe you should think twice about calling young people lazy when it seems like you've breezed through life.”

“Who do you think spoiled them? Do you think they spoiled themselves?”
