“I get most of my info from alternative doctors, and most of them only recommend small amounts of fruit, and only the fruits with the lowest amount of fructose. They do not recommend banana's, grapes, or oranges at all. Berries are their favorite choice, followed by watermelon. They say 2 banana's a day put you over their recommended amount of fructose in a day. Since you think you are smarter than these doctors, talk to them about it.”

cichlid mom on Dec 10, 2013 at 00:45:20

“Two bananas a day though is a lot. I dont know anyone who eats that many. Although my husband eats one for lunch everyday. His blood work is sick, its so good. And he is skinny. I hate him for that :) Berries are said to help control blood sugar. I buy them frozen for snacks.”

“It can be, but it is generally a regular part of the natural digestive process and swallowing air - which we do all of the time. Having some gas is not unusual or unhealthy. To paraphrase a wise children's book author... "Everybody farts" and "Everybody poops".”

“"No" amount of mercury is good for you, and anything not in a BPA free can is bad for you. They have tested no rice that did not have arsenic, with whole grain having the highest amounts. Eating too much fructose in fruit is bad for you, and fructose isolated from fruit is really bad. Oats are trigger foods for viral infections in some people. Go back to your research, you will learn some day.”

cichlid mom on Dec 9, 2013 at 14:34:42

“The fructose in a banana will not hurt you if you consume just a couple each week. I dont eat fruit at all since I am diabetic but I will eat a banana 2-3 times a week. My sugars have never been better. All things in moderation.”

plasmaorb on Dec 9, 2013 at 13:18:34

“I know more about food than you think you do... your information isnt there... You know how many bananas you would have to eat to have TOO much fructose? it would be a lot and no one would eat that many. You say some people... thats a small percentage and you changed what you and I were talking about, which means you dont have anything to back up your we.ak c|aims. Admit it, you dont know anything... and a little knowledge is dangerous.. especially when it comes to you.”

“Rice is high in arsenic and tuna has quite a bit of mercury along with the BPA in the cans. Potato's elevate your blood sugar. Banana's have too much fructose. Oats are carbs and they are not very good for blood sugar. Everyone will have to live on cabbage and beans.”

hattie54 on Dec 9, 2013 at 15:26:37

“People have eaten this stuff for years and years but then the blood sugar allowed long time ago was a much higher # than now.Now they keep lowering it,making us go in for frequent $$ blood tests then get put on pills,it makes them all $$.I eat less carbs than my parents did.”

Bunnyhop234 on Dec 9, 2013 at 10:20:23

“Yeah, and the cabbage and beans need to be organic, right? And cooked without any salt in a pan that is not nonstick and in pure water?

If you analyze things too closely you won't be able to eat anything. And seriously, if your average American ate more of the foods on this list and less of the fast food, processed food, giant sodas and sweets that many of us truly eat, we'd be much healthier. Don't discourage people and make them think a healthier diet is an impossible task, as you do when you criticize foods like oatmeal and bananas.”

“Kale and beans”

plasmaorb on Dec 9, 2013 at 10:09:00

“canned tuna is lower than fresh like Ahi. Depends on where you get your rice from (where its grown), potatoes wont elevate your blood sugar, not as much as other processed things like white bread. Fructose is good for you, plus Bananas are good for other things like potassium. Oats are carbs, but no one does that Atkins thing anymore. Oats are actually good for you, and they help with people who have diabetes since they have more soluable fiber to them. You might need to do your research a bit more.”

“What you have to realize is that there are people with disabilities all over the highways. Some have diabetic seizures, yet continue to drive and are not stopped. People just do not want to give up their freedom, even if it means endangering someone else's life. The best we can do is to keep our eyes on every car that is coming towards us, so we can make that split second decision to get out of their way when they cross the line. And last but not least, cell phone talking and texting are the biggest threat on the highway. I see them texting while traveling at 80 miles an hour. Good luck, you and I will need it.”

heymickr on Dec 5, 2013 at 11:58:09

“Absolutely. However, I don't know enough about web sites to make a truly informed decision so I generally stay away from all but the largest companies and then try my best to carefully limit any information I provide. But, as I see it, your potentially weakest links are the banks and other financial institutions, Credit Card companies and the companies that provide credit reports and scores, your insurance carriers and vendors, and your health care providers. We have had many attempted frauds on our accounts including even the Nigerian Prince (can you believe that people can really be tricked by that scam) but so far we haven't lost anything. I hope no one has any fraud problems generated by these new government websites but it probably will happen to some extent. In California, where I live, the site for their Exchange has been doing a massive amount of business and seems to be a big success. The major carriers are pretty much all involved and everyone is pleased by the low prices. I don't need it because I'm on Medicare and with parts A,B, & D (B and D being means tested) and the best Medigap policy it really costs us a lot of money per month.”

“I always used to listen to the so called experts on TV until I listened to "experts" in my own field of expertise a few times and realized that none of them really knew what they were talking about. I guess if they did they would spend their time doing rather than talking. It doesn't really matter how secure the site is most can still be hacked and no site is ever any more secure than the individuals that have access to the information at the other end.”

“500 million dollar web site that could have been done for 10 million, and actually been efficient. Enter at your own risk, you could get your social security number stolen.”

heymickr on Dec 4, 2013 at 23:19:15

“Now just what evidence do you have that it could have been done for 10 mil and that people are anymore at risk with this web site than with any other financial site. If you're dishonest it's actually pretty easy to obtain access to people's social security numbers from a number of different sources - let's say from anyone accessing your credit or health records just for starters. For example, someone like your current health insurer or any of your health care providers. Unfortunately, there are dishonest people everywhere.”

raceroox on Dec 4, 2013 at 23:13:47

“Look your right about the waste and the debacle. Shame on us, but the policy is correct. We , of the glass half full opinion, think we can make it work. Come help not hinder. After all if Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Denmark, Sweden. etc etc can make universal healthcare work so can we. Now I would also remind you that the Gov shutdown cost us 24 billion dollars. The GOP just admitted that they had no intentions of trying that stunt again. We will see.”
