“I understand you, but would add that the 'other side' uses democracy to suppress rights and establish control of their target populations, women, gays, blacks, immigrants... and they use the media to broadcast their point of view as legitimate.”

“Yes, bascombe. Our democracy requires a free and independent press. What we have here is a deliberate failure to communicate truth.
One of the Senators from that side of the aisle has been in the news a lot this week. has been caught on camera advising students that "misinformation works!" Yeah, imagine carving that onto a memorial in Washington, huh?
Another Senator from that side of the aisle managed to spark a shutdown of the government of the United States. He has spoken loud and long about this, he raised millions of dollars on it, accepts all the pats on his back for accomplishing it, pats his own . . . but then he also calls in "Obama's shutdown."
Yes, they use the media to broadcast their point of view - but their point of view has some serious 'splainin' to do.
The right wing media has many outlets, their arms are octopus-sial. The truest and best thing to ever come from one of those arms was this: "Is this just math that you do as a Republican to make yourself feel better, or is this real?"”
“loyalty to country and flag are no longer in vogue on the right. but you already know that. it is certainly sickening.”

“Actually, I don't know that because I have refused to believe that the concept of Democracy, decency, patriotism and honor is alien to the party opposite of my own. I thought that liberals were unfairly bashed in the late 70's, mocked in the 80's, hounded in the 90's under Clinton, ignored, mocked and bashed in the 2000's - but now that there is a black man in the White House? What I see and hear from what appears to be the "main stream" right is despicably anti-American.”
“I'll agree that the source of all the problems needs to be part of the focus. the power, OTOH, is in the hands of the manager, SHE (my bad, I found out later) made the call, apparently after seeing someone turn on a cell phone to record the exchange.”

“It's remarkable how sensitive authority figures are to having their actions put on the record, isn't it! ;-)”
“no it IS the manager's fault. HE had the discretion. HE could have made the different decision.”

“I know what you're saying, but I have to disagree. If they'd been white, do you think asking them to leave would have crossed his mind even for a second? And do you think the silly woman would have felt "threatened"?”

“not good at all. BA was a joke in daredevil. they are overselling him. Superman does NOT need any bat-presence. sad that they immediately screw up a great beginning, just as they finally got superman right. this is just wrong in so many ways.”
