“The Guardian,The Tyee, Rabble. ca, The Dominion, The Marxist- Leninist Daily, those are leftist news sources. The CBC , BBC, the globe and mail, even Al Jazeera English all take a middle of the road approach. If you feel the CBC is biased you have the opportunity to prove your position to the Ombudsman, the CBC has a mandate to be unbiased and protocols to keep it that way Sun News and Nat. Post don't.”

“These two are not the same IMO and based on my understanding. Manning blew the whistle on things he witnessed first hand. And he has boldly faced the music to defend his actions.

Snowden is in a foreign country with whom we have tenuous relations with and we have no idea what if any sensitive info he is sharing with them.

I am in full support of Manning. Snowden strikes me as a potentially grave threat to international relations. That must be weighed in here.”

“As long as the CBC remains near or on par with the BBC in quality, accuracy, and lack of bias I say leave it alone. It provides a valuable public service. In a few years when nearly all journalism is behind paywalls the CBC will be even more vital to retain a large informed electorate among citizens with limited resources.”

“Cons are all for decorum but have trouble with ethics. Should we compare the criminal and ethical violations of the three parties? The NDP come out looking pretty good. Not so much the Mulroney or Harper Gov'ts. Manners aren't at the top of the list with the 'in and out', 'robocalls' illegal corporate donations, climate change deniers, anti gay rights, anti- women's rights all coming from the governing party, all the right can find to complain about is decorum.

It's only been a few months since a con crossed the floor and used the same type of language to an NDP almost starting a fight. What's food for the goose is food for the Gander.”

“They didn't say every Canadian, in fact they were quite specific that it wasn't all Canadians. It's OK i've read the last few budgets and the reports on the fighter jets, I understand Cons aren't very good with numbers. One indicator that cons are brainwashed it could be argued that the majority of their voters aren't in the 10% wealthiest Canadians and therefore are voting against their and their children's own long term interests. I'd love to hear how I was brainwashed by leftists in a conservative, born again christian household in southern Alberta. It took forever to find politicians who believe in evidence based decision making.”

When the Liberals had adscam the other three parties looked to Broadbendt to write new rules for parliamentarians. You might not like our language but you can't fault the NDP ethics. I can't wait for a government that believes in scientific facts, ethics, socialized medicine, and shares the values and morals of decent human beings.”

i'm not against protests, but they should not be allowed to damage private businesses.”

The problem isn't the Bears it's the unprecedented destruction of habitat that 80% of the regions residents and even the Premier says is ridiculous but has done nothing to stop.”

“The reason for the upset is the fact that Americans still use the ridiculous notion that all political positions fit on a line, while the rest of the world switched to the political compass a decade ago. It's why so many americans can't tell the difference between communism and socialism. Libertarians and fascists are both right wing yet have virtually nothing in common. If america introduces the political compass to classrooms and implements a multi party system the myth of bi partisanship will slowly die.”

“Coletto works for Sun News so there's an obvious bias to begin with. He claims "We have a generation who have chosen to remain ill-informed and unengaged," said Coletto. I would like to see his evidence for this biggoted slander.

NDP voters have always ranked as the best informed of the three parties supporters. I've never spoken to an 18-24 year old who didn't vote because there were no issues they understood or cared about they all told they didn't vote because our first past the post system is designed to make their vote valueless.”

Ryan L Painter on Nov 30, 2012 at 07:47:00

“I've experienced, as an election volunteer, activist and door knocker, what Coletto is talking about and frankly, I'm appauled at the lack of engagement that my generation has in politics. The complaining and naysaying about politicians and politics, all the while not bothering to go down to a polling station and vote. It's the simplest thing to do, casting a ballot, and if we all did it the configuration of the House of Commons would look vastly different and be far more representative. As it is, my generation has chosen to be disengaged and allow our parents and grandparents to cast the deciding votes on our lives. We need to wake up to the realities that the current government knows it's not in their interest for us to vote, so they aren't going to incentivize us to vote for them. We need to vote with our feet and get to ballot boxes when the occasion calls for it, not sit on our hands and complain that nobody represents us.”
