Applebee's Waitress Fired For Sharing 'I Give God 10%' Tip Receipt

Commented Feb 1, 2013 at 16:54:42 in Business

“I wonder if this paster does that same for their credit cards, mortgage, etc. Do they give less than what is owed for interest too? Sorry, but just because you give 10% of your money to God doesn't mean you shouldn't give a tip. In all reality if you're supposed to tithe 10% of your income, then by not giving a tip to this person, if they give 10% to God, they will be giving less to God now.”

“I agree, yes criminals won't obey the law, we've heard that enough, but the background check just makes sure they can't purchase them legally. I'm pro-gun rights, but at the same time the NRA has pushed some bad laws in the past. I did a research study and found thanks to the NRA if you have a severe mental illness you can still have guns with nothing more than a doctor's note. Now come on, how hard is it to get a doctor's note.”

rtsinacge on Jan 31, 2013 at 10:23:04

“True, true..  The NRA will be a more legitimate organization when they decide to reach any type of middle ground on some of the issues.  I don't need a 50 round clip to defend myself, and I don't need armor piercing rounds either; but one can bet the NRA won't budge a bit on either of those items which only hurts the organization and the image of legal gun ownership in general.”

So you're saying this is not part of the DSM-IV-TR "often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities."”

“@error18 Ahh the brash young graduate who believes they know everything because their professor and a few articles told them it was so. Unfortunately for your argument, I DO have both an education (BA in Psychology, and MSE in Counselor Education, as well as being a licensed school counselor) AND a practical working knowledge of the subject you seem to be an expert on. Please realize that when you make ignorant claims you do a major disservice to the entire field you so proudly claim to be your own. Your "source" is a study based on a circulated vignette that served to prove a hypothesis of over-diagnosis, NOT a study that states that if a person has ADHD they cannot concentrate on anything. You are confusing your arguments. My original comment, and all subsequent comments, are regarding your assertion that is completely false. I'm not here to argue over-diagnosis.”

“I graduate at the end of the month with my psychology degree.  It was discussed in many of my psychology courses, one of the most in depth discussions actually came about in my hypnosis course though because my professor and I got on the subject of over-diagnosis of bipolar and ADD/ADHD since I was doing my thesis on it.  He cited that his daughter was an active child, more so than average and the teacher decided she had ADHD and should be medicated.  He knew she was just bored in school because at home she could watch tv and sit through whole episodes of her shows without issue.  Many of those diagnosed with ADHD or ADD are actually more intelligent and act out because they are so bored in the classroom.”

Trappednomad711 on Dec 18, 2012 at 10:46:23

“This only goes to prove that just because someone has an "education" does not mean that they are educated. Your information regarding ADHD is completely false @error18. Do your research and you'll see that your professor's anecdotal evidence does not represent factual research. Does ADHD/ADD get mis/over-diagnosed? Perhaps, but your statement that "someone with ADHD cannot pay attention in any situation, so he wouldn't be able to play video games, watch tv, etc." is simply untrue.”

“Your argument is riddled with logical fallacies, this boy is clearly mentally ill. I'll be graduating soon with my psychology degree, a subject that you clearly know nothing about. Affection does have an impact on personality, but not to this extent. He most likely has a personality disorder, though without seeing him personally it would be hard to say which one. Are you going to tell the parents of schizophrenics that while the exact cause is unknown it's important to consider it's their fault? Will you ignore the papers showing the strong evidence for the neurodevelopment hypothesis which may link it to a pre-natal virus?
Please, go to school and study this subject if you want to talk about it, but when you're done, I think you'll see those studies you're talking about do not include mental disorders.”

“This article says what I've been saying for days now! I'm about to graduate with my psychology degree because I want to help people that are troubled. This boy seems to have a personality disorder, ASD, ADD and ADHD do not fit the DSM-IV-TR. But I think the psychologists evaluating him should consider looking into the personality disorders, problem is those are all very difficult to treat. Our mental healthcare system sucks and those who tend to cry for gun rights (which I am for) and fear losing their guns also tend to be against the healthcare reform. They cry personal responsibility, but what about those who have a mental disorder and can't be personally responsible for any of their actions. I'll be blunt, I'd rather pay higher taxes and get the mentally ill the treatment they need, then have to see more deaths. For everyone who cries personal responsibility, tell that to the parents of the mentally ill and the people who lost their lives because of them. As far as I'm concerned those who will fight for guns and low taxes before helping those in need are personally responsible for those deaths.”

“What you say may be true. However, if you have a child who is mentally unstable or even if they are just an angry teen, you do not keep guns in the house. I don't 'blame' the mother because these personality disorders are very real and difficult to deal with. But again, if you have a child like this you do not keep guns around, and what's with the special ammunition designed to inflict maximum damage to whatever or whoever is shot?”

“Personally I think they should be put to sleep.  There are whole feral cat societies that have $100k annual budgets just to feed them and that sickens me.  I love cats, but they belong inside a house just as pythons do.
I apologize about the grammar comment, this is just s touchy subject for me.  When the government tries to take your animals from you, you get pretty defensive.  I think it's just awful that we can no longer cross state lines with Burmese Pythons (as well as N. and S. African Rock Pythons and Yellow Anacondas) or we risk a felony.  The most obvious flaw in that is our men and women of the military will be hurt the most, they will have to leave their beloved pets behind because of HSUS and PETA's propoganda.  Small businesses have had to shut down all because of public fear that is truly unfounded.  12 people ever have been killed in the US by non-venomous snakes, 32 people each year by dogs, 200 by horses, yet because those are more socially acceptable they get a free pass.

It's just not logical to say you can't cross state lines with them (so if you're already in FL you can't leave FL with one of these snakes?)

Thank you for your time.”
