“The point is that religion is being used to discriminate against this group of human beings.
Pedophilia is a crime against children. (Is incest against the law if it is done by two consenting adults?) No one is using religion to abolish the law against pedohilia. Whereas religion is being used to try to abolish laws which allow gays to marry and to justify discrimination against gays.”
“It is the tactic that is offensive and childish, not the bill itself. The tactic of holding a legitimate process hostage, to get their way.
The article indicated that a form of this bill has been around since his dad was in office! Why didn't he bring the bill to floor 2 years ago, a year ago, 6 months ago?
Sorry to be so demeaning, but imagine the employee in your company (we've all had them) who consistently puts up roadblocks and complains, and refuses to work with others unless he/she get their way, because of their "holier-than-thou" belief. Ugh!”
“The main point of the article was in response to Cruz saying his health plan was "no cost to the taxpayer", which was a false statement. The article did not mention that the company also gets to use healthcare as an expense which lowers the taxes they pay.”
“The main point of the article was in response to Cruz comment that his health plan was "no cost to the taxpayer". Had Cruz not made that comment or even said that he was saving the taxpayer money, then the article would be pointless.”

“There is no cost to the tax payer. If he chose insurance from the government, would his wife had gotten a $20,000 raise for canceling her insurance?
And he's still right because we can all be pretty certain an senators insurance plan costs more than $8,500 per year”
“That would require catndryer to look beyond the bumper stickers and understand how our government works. Using the word "dictator" is the boogeyman Warren was referring to - if asked for specifics these folks are at a loss.”
“WOW - I find both your solutions so sensible! I especially find the stock transaction tax justified. If the Glass-Segal act is distasteful to Wall Street, then they ought to pay a tax to cover Social Security when they again run amok with some new "instrument" meant to enrich a few at the expense of the country's most vulnerable.”
“Yes, but why isn't this fact made more vocal? Even by the president? He should make clear that the current budget is at Paul Ryan numbers NOT democratic numbers and they still refuse to agree to an up or down vote.
President and every democrat should have the graph in front of them whenever they speak in public! That is, here is the president's request and here is where we are today.”
“Oh no, I thought he was born in Canada and thus making him ineligible to run for president! Although, it might be a great day to have him run for president and then soundly defeated but someone rational.”

“Let me rephrase. He is a Cuban Canadian who was born in Canada and lived the first 4 years of his life here then he moved to the US.
Unfortunately he can run because his mother was born in Delaware.”
“So you consider Nazi Germany a left-wing government? What about the American Revolution? Simple labels do not work for complex issues. And it is telling that only a few will acknowledge the compromises made by the other side.
The issue is the tactic - shutting down the government because one side is opposed to a law. The law has existed for 3 years. No one, including the President, thinks this law is perfect. The use of amendments, not attached to government shut down, should be used to change or defund the law.”
“So annoying for the rest of us to be punished for the ignorance of a few. Right, it starts in childhood and carried forward to adulthood.”
Percivil Lowell on Aug 12, 2013 at 20:15:31
“Well I personally don't think they ever actually reach adulthood. If you're in your 40s and still think President Obama was secreted into Hawaii as part of some elaborate terror plot to get the first black man elected in a country with texas and south carolina in it, you are not an adult...your are still a child.”
“This thread has a monolithic view of the issues. Perhaps you were not aware of the devastation of WWII, followed by civil war years. As they were getting on their feet, the US intervened and supported a military junta which ruled for 7 years.
More recently banks colluded with Greek politicians by over-inflating Greece's value and thus allowing them into the EU.”
Cory Gudwin on Aug 10, 2013 at 19:24:46
“The "collusion" of any foreign bank is an accusation that has never been proven by evidence. Greece itself provided phony financial documents. Neither that document issue or the 'tax dodging" excuse are to blame for the Greek collapse anyway. The credit downgrades were about a spending problem. A horribly bloated public sector funded off of a very tiny tax base. You could confiscate every Euro from every rich Greek and it would not even begin to pay to fix the problem. Austerity isn't an actual policy anywhere. Austerity is the 100% non-negotiable result of overspending. Whether an individuals overspending or a nations.”
