“"On a $400,000 mortgage, that's a difference of some $42 per month, assuming a 25-year mortgage."
A $400 000 mortgage is not a large amount, particularly in Toronto or Vancouver.
An increase of two tenths of one percent from a gobsmackingly low 3.09% to a ridiculously low 3.29% amounts, according to the above, to a $42 a month increase in payments.
Hold on to your lunch, folks. That means a 1% increase, to a extremely low rate of 4.29% would be an extra $210/month. You can manage that right? Not easy but yah, you could do it.
How about an a low rate of 5.29%, still far below average rates historically, that's $420/month more. Are you sweating yet?
How about a rate of 6.29%, still quite reasonable. That's $630 more a month. 7.29% is $840 more a month.
I'll bet most folks have bailed by now, turned back their homes to the bank, and these higher rates are far from unreasonable, historically.
The next time the Bank of Canada says they are keeping rates low for another 6 weeks, ask yourself how big a favour they have done Canada by jacking up debt levels for homes, letting, no encouraging Canadians to take on far too much debt at unsustainably low rates.
Those debts are leading us to whacking big trouble.”

“You forgot your "x"-axis. It takes time for this to happen and a lot of things happen in the meantime. You have interest rates doubling with no inflation, for example. You also have interest rates doubling at a time where they will most likely stay low.”
“"Analysts here will watch to make sure no children wander into the target area -- the laser-homing Hellfire missile often fired from drones can be diverted at the last second if needed, Air Force officials said."
I believe this, every word.

“Just think Dresden was destroyed Munich, destroyed, Tokyo destroyed, Berlin destroyed, London destroyed. Millions of civilians died. Nobody warned the children or moved them to safety. War is not pretty. It does not play favorites.”

This is because Americans clearly understand that taxes are the work of the devil.”

“No Americans don't you on the other hand count your blessing at every pop hole. Happy to not have food inspections; live on let the buyer beware, there is no need for car inspections, car fax type places are out to scam you and you get annoyed every time you have to have to click your seatbelt. Ride a bike, wear no helmet is the motto that the foolish live by... go ahead and throw the kids in the back of the pickup zoom down the road and go for that wing and prayer lifestyle.”

“It is just his opinion. You are free to disagree or write a rebuttal. In fact why not do that. Take his points one at a time and show how they are all wrong. It would make a better argument than your "haven't looked hard" quote.
Yes his post is very bigoted and shows some lack of understanding. Maybe he is just one of a growing group of Canadians that are sick and tired of the whining and complaining from SOME of the native population in Canada.”

“There used to be a quaint process called warrant, arrest, trial by jury, and judical decision.
I think it was the rule of law.
No need for such any more.”

“Getting a little hysterical are we? We know nothing of the due process required for a drone strike to be called. I suspect it would be much like any law enforcement process already in place...fugitives have been shot and killed by the police for a long time.”
