“Joe was invited to do the opening speech at the Canadian Solar show 2 years ago as Minister of Nat Resources. And all he talked about to the attendees of solar professionals was the oil and gas Canada has and how we to develop those resources. It was completely unbelievable.”

“I prefer to think that we will begin investing in some alternative energy. We are already far behind many other countries - including China.

It is the future, but I think we need to look at the energy sector differently. We think of power in terms of big projects - dams, nuclear, huge plants burning fossil fuels. What we should be thinking about are household level appliances to capture solar, wind and geothermic energy. Someone is already developing curtains that will charge batteries!

In the 60s, we thought of computers as honkin' big mainframes that filled a whole room. Then someone thought about making a smaller computer that a single person could own and operate. The VIC20 and Commodore64 (and TRS80) users were early adopters.

Twenty years ago if you had a home computer you were probably a geek; a lot of people didn't have one on their desk at the office either (certainly no one in management). The first commercial browser, Mosaic had just been released and there were about 700 web sites. If you had a cell phone it was almost the size of a brick, weighed slightly less, and only made phone calls.

In twenty years, we could make enormous progress in alternative energy. Will we still need fossil fuels? Sure - some - for plastics mostly. But, did you know, you can make plastic from Hemp?”

If he truly believes his position is right than he should have no objections to being on the list and have the ability to be the hero. But since there are such dire possibilities if he is wrong he needs to understand he will be held accountable.”
