Because there is a vast difference in skills, talent, dedication and education. The guy who cannot dig a straight ditch is not the equal of a Steve Jobs. Thus, there will be, and forever should be, income inequality. And no amount of forced, government income redistribution will correct that, though it may quell the ignorant, lazy masses for awhile.
What we should be focused on is equality of opportunity--so that talented, dedicated hard working kids from any background get the education to permit them to shoot for the moon. No, the lazy, know-nothing lay-about does not deserve a good income just because some politician wants (the rest of us) to give it to him/her. But, the hard working smart kid who wants a better life should be given the education to enable him/her to go for the gold.
That's is what America should be about--not about income equality which just means stealing from those who earn it to give to those who don't, but giving opportunity to those who want to make the best of it.”

“And you believe these CEOs who get paid more money than their life is worth deserve it? They got to where they are because of who they know, not because of what they do.”

“When you effectively eliminate the Middle Class, there is nothing but the 1%'ers and the Fast Food employees left. That won't fund your Affordable Care Act, sir. Prior planning prevents poor performance.
Had he served in the Military he might have learned that. Instead, the one guy who would never have been issued a Security Clearance is in charge of the largest Military in the World. It would be ironically funny if it weren't true.”

“First of all …
"He said Americans should be offended that a child born into poverty has such a hard time escaping it. "It should compel us to action. We're a better country than this," the president said." He was talking about "equality of opportunity". And, let's face it, not every multi-millionaire out there pulled themselves up "by their boot straps". Get real.”
“These pols care nothing about America or the people. It is all about their re-election. We'll go bankrupt before this crew does anything meaningful. Thus, we have no hope unless we turn them ALL out and elect problem solvers who can face reality and deal with it in effective, positive solutions. But then, that would take brains and courage--two traits not present in DC.”
“If you don't know the why, I probably cannot help you. Read and watch what is really going on. Each side is blaming the other and neither has presented a serious plan to put our country on a path to financial stability.
“I bet an honest poll would show all of the DC politicians (from the top down) are in danger of being voted out...if not, wake up America, they should be. We need politicians with serious solutions, not more juvenile name calling---just thing not to help find real solutions. DUMP THEM ALL !!!!”
Try the truth on Oct 6, 2013 at 10:24:41
“"honest poll"? What is "dishonest" about THIS poll, specifically? As for the rest of your post, AGAIN, you're specific free. As to WHY?

“You can have him. Please take him somewhere else. We need leadership.”
“No, the politicians are not on Obamacare,; they are onw their own, better plan. Look it up. And, President Obama cut a side deal to give high ranking staffers a better subsidy too, so they are not on Obamacare as the rest of us are. And Obama gave a unilateral 1 year's delay to big employers so they too are not yet on Obamacare. So, the friends and Pols are not on the same system.”
“While you may technically be right, "redirecting" what Congress has already appropriated is a change to something not what Congress decided to spend money on--it renders meaningless the appropriation process if the President can do what he wants when he wants--a very dangerous pattern that is, in my judgement, very high handed and wrong headed. Sets him up to be a dictator who does what he wants--I think that policy should be be stopped.”
“This "new" idea of having to pay our debts seems as if it has come from outer space--first time it has occurred in the history of our country! All of these issues have been CLEARLY on the table for years, but the pols in Washington ignore them all, take the short work weeks and fancy vacations, and then at the last minute pretend that they will now deal with them. If anyone ran their family store, or major company, like these incompetent, irresponsible egotists, they would soon be bankrupt and out of business--unfortunately these folks seem hell bent on not facing the problems like problem solving adults. TIME FOR EVERY LAST POLITICIAN IN WASHINGTON TO BE VOTED OUT ASAP--and no Presidential Library for this failure of a leader. The CBO, Congress's own independent and apolitical budget group, in its September 2013 Report released a few weeks ago says in plain English that the present course is UNSUSTAINABLE and we must both tax and cut spending and start repairing the damage these useless pols have set for us! WHERE IS OUR LEADERSHIP ?? NOT IN WASHINGTON !”
“While the proposed pay reduction seems to violate the 27th Amendment, why cannot the affected officials waive any constitutional objections as part of their vote?
Those who still want their pay can sue the US for it on the ground that it is unconstitutional to pay nothing for nothing.
Would love to see the plaintiffs, using their own money, file that suit. "Yeah, we did nothing, we got special healthcare law treatment the rest of you peons did not, but we are still entitled to be paid!"
BRING IT ON !! Throw them out !! Every last one of all them--Reps, Dems and POTUS--all useless except to claim the other guy is to blame. Not a one of them can solve a problem intelligently.”
“And we should believe Susan Rice because she knows a terrorist attack when she sees one?
These perhaps sincerely felt but nevertheless silly statements remind me of the Viet Nam war's "Domino Theory" so touted by the the DC pols at the time; it was another theory that never made sense and was soon forgotten as just more silliness from pols that know everything but have no judgement at all.
Hopefully this time, we won't be suckered into another fit of muscle flexing.”
“Do you really think the bad guys are going to surrender their guns or observe a gun control law? That is a faint and foolish hope used as an excuse to keep from focusing on the harsh fact the people use guns to kill--and it is mostly bad people who do it in crimes of choice. You want to stop this? Change the law to mandate immediate trials and prompt death sentences for those committing felonies while in possession of a gun. In a few years you will have fewer such crimes and lots fewer criminals (which is the point).”
“I doubt she was intending to make a racist comment--there are more effective and clear ways to do that.
She is apparently just not very bright and has no business being a politician who seeks to tell the rest of us what to do with demonstrated intelligence barely above zero. Well, on second thought, maybe she fits right in.
Unfortunately, this is not a Republican only characteristic--most politicians are none too bright and are interested chiefly in staying in office (what else are they fit for??). I am still waiting (praying) for some serious problem solvers........with effective, practical solutions.”
Rob Sparks on Aug 24, 2013 at 12:50:00
“I disagree. It's what is so wrong with republicans, a continuous thread about Gay, blacks, hispanic and woman. And she wouldn't get away with overt racism. It's how they are, you just have to connect the dots with these frauds.”
“We need to change the criminal laws in order to take people like this off the board--no second chances and no excuses--if they are convicted, put them down. No sense polluting the gene pool with garbage like these criminals. Black, white, yellow or purple--we need to stop tolerating these crimes. Termination will work a lot better than rehabilitation for the rest of us. And do it under a mandatory 6 month arrest, trial, conviction and execution schedule. No reason to waste lots of time or money.”

“I totally agree with you. This is just so sad.. When the other person is caughtm, they both should be shot. I myself would have no trouble killing them both. I can pull a trigger quite well for this kind of crime. May Mr Belton rest in peace.”
“I assume you are correct--but that then means that the only thing preventing us from suffering with a more effective, authoritarian government is its incompetent, yet amazingly expensive and wasteful, bureaucracy? Whose mission are these agencies serving--the people's or the own petty agendas. So much for new leadership and change!”
“Then what is the billions of $$ spent on NSA snooping on all of us law-abiding citizens for ?? Government control to be sure we're all in line with the party line??”
MEVirginia on Aug 2, 2013 at 09:13:26
“The NSA does not share its data with the FBI. That was one of the problems found in 9/11 and it has not really changed. The NSA did not trust the FBI not to release that they had the data. So the FBI has to submit its own requests to the phone company for the databases.”
Angry White Guy on Aug 2, 2013 at 08:46:06
“One of the biggest erroneous assumptions made by several here in the comments is that these agencies talk to one another and share all intelligence gathered.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Each agency in the intelligence game is involved in a turf war for personnel, funding, power and equipment. Because of this reality, each one will jealously guard what it knows, what it has and what it's actual capabilities are--we were never supposed to know about nor the extent of the NSA surveillance of American and foreign citizens and governments for example. Want to bet the FBI never knew, either?”

“I remember visiting my aunt as a young child.. ...she lived in the country- farms- and I remember party lines. If you picked up the phone and your neighbors were talking you politely hung up and did not listen....the good old days?”
“Assuming he is found guilty, what is the death penalty for if not for this guy ???
It is beyond time this country stopped ringing its hands over horrible killers such as this guy, the Cheshire, CT murderers, etc. There should be a quick, fair trial and, if convicted, a quick execution. Stop wasting our resources to provide lurid drama for this kind.”
yoda1569 on Jul 11, 2013 at 01:09:19
“mongobmon... I agree with you 100%!!!! I think a quick trial, and execution should happen 100% of the time when the guilty person admits to doing the crime, is proven by DNA, is captured doing the crime on video, and for ALL gangbangers, and terrorists!!! It irks the shat out of me when a guilty person not only admits to the crime, brags about it, and all the other bad things they have done, and then tries to plead not guilty, and gets an expensive trial, and endless amount of appeals!!!! You have 100% proof like a confession, caught on video, DNA, ETC. then you should get 1 really quick trial, and when found guilty you should be hung in the town square within 24hrs.! Think of all the money, prison space we'd save, and at the same time all the vile, psycos we would rid this country of all at the same time!”
