“This Canada where child killers are given extended luxury vacations and new identities. You were drunk while you committed the crime, no problem here's a car to go with that new vacation home. You were Drunk when you were assaulted, too bad you asked for it.
Our laws do a better job of protecting the guilty and that is fact.
We better change our young offenders act as the young offenders are getting younger and younger.
Ohh and by the way when you start to see a trend you... better act.
I see no mention of false accusations.”
“Where did you get that interpretation of her lifestyle?
The problem belongs to the community. The men in the surrounding community should have taken all the boys aside in a local gym etc.. The men should teach the boys what it means to be a man, much like a tribal council, the men of a community should take responsibility. Think about a Clan or Tribe and how they would treat such behavior from one of their clan or tribe.
Parents responsibility is to discipline socially unacceptable behavior and not feed them violent games or movies which feed the dark side of our psyche, feed it too much and you are going to have a problem on your hands.
Men teach your boys what it takes to become a real man.”

“Yes bravo for bringing awareness! But video as fake as a 2$ rolex.
No swelling and eyes remain as white as snow.”
Carol Harvey on Mar 21, 2013 at 14:30:53
“What video are you referring to? In the last few photos, she had what appeared to be a bloodied swollen left eye, among other injuries. It might have been fake, but not due to lack of redness and swelling.”
“Precisely, One of humanities greatest flaws IMO is the fact that many don't use their own judgement and instead do as they are told by someone who they perceive to have greater knowledge or authority. One other point, why do degenerates almost always look like degenerates? With all the headlines i am beginning to think we we need to institute a mandatory test of morals and emotional intelligence to acquire a permit to drive and own any kind of weapon not to mention having children and raising them.....seriously.”

“Not only is it difficult to get an apprenticeship its impossible to get one in any branch of the Government. They simply won't train any apprentices. I personally knocked on doors , phoned department heads, sat in waiting rooms and handed out dozens of resumes.
It was the same answer wherever i went. We went through this back in 2004 "trades shortage", it was simply and outright lie. The average wage for an apprentice is 12$ per hour. Most employers want to pay cash with no benefits, I was lucky and made 16$ per hour on the books, I worked 50-60 hours a week with no overtime, no benefits. I saw so many people come and go it made my head spin. This Government better get real serious about its youth and implementing apprenticeship programs to fill the future void.”

“It's depressing. I see young people going to University and working in malls because there are no jobs for them...and it doesn't seem to occur to them that a good plumber makes a very good living, and is unlikely to be unemployed.”

“I wonder what things were like way back when cameras had disposable flash cubes.
I once had an officer put me in a choke hold from behind (mistaken identity) without properly identifying herself. I did what anyone would do at night in that situation and fought for my life.
Officers piled on me, maced me, rammed my head into the pavement punched and kicked me. To top it off they threatened to (probe me) on the way to the station. It was my 24th birthday. I never did go out again..... and nor will i ever trust the law.”

“"This has nothing to do with technology" .....really?
"These same things have always gone on" ........really? Did you read the article. your telling me that kids have always been getting naked in front of other kids and taking each others pictures then blackmailing them and harassing them to the point of death.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Vancouver and nothing even remotely similar as this ever happened while growing up in the 80's.”

“Your father and my father came from the same school.
As a child i was jumped by a group of 3 boys 5-6 years my senior, as luck would have it my father was 100 yard away working on the family car. Unlucky for the teens...........as my father didn't hold back, those neighborhood bullies disappeared from the back alleys of our neighborhood for good. Now i am a father..............”

“This is insane, it has to stop. Kids and teens with webcams and smartphones don't mix.
The first eye opener was the Vancouver riots where the vast majority had their smartphones in hand, all posing for facebook shots. Its much like giving a shiny loaded gun to a group of chimpanzees, they simply haven't enough experience and understanding to be responsibly using these devices. My heart goes out to all the children effected in such a negative way by our shortsightedness. The life of one child is one too many. Its time our elected leaders step up to the plate and introduce laws penalizing parents and software companies that allow underage children access to social media and if you think its too difficult to police then we have failed as a society to protect and nurture our children, our future.
My heart goes out to Amanda and her family.”

“This has nothing to do with technology. Technology is merely the reason why this instance is visible enough for us to discuss it after the fact. These same things have always gone on, just not in such open public view. Don't fall into what I call The Youtube Age where if you can't see it, it didn't happen.”
“Horrible, horrible story, whale watching should be illegal, i see it all the time here on the coast of B.C. Spotters on hillsides, fast pursuit boats full of tourists chasing down whales so tourists can snap a picture. Ohh one more thing, marine engine manufactures should be forced to use prop guards on all products. We have the intelligence to go to the moon but we cant protect living creatures including us from prop strikes? i shake my head at our out stupidity.”

“You will be missed dearly Andy. Say high to Don (Barny) For us.
I'm 38 and i grew up watching you and the boys in Mayberry.
Last year i carried on the tradition by introducing my 5 year old daughter to "Mayberry"
We watch it every night before my child's bedtime, Its a timeless show that is unmatched by any thing ever made. We will continue to watch it for many years to come and think of you and the gang with a smile on our face and a tear in our eye.
“Wish i was on that bus.
I was brought up to respect my elders, had i or anyone talked that way to an elder we would have all had our backside handed to us.
What wrong with you parents these days?
BTW i have children and yes i do discipline them.”

“Just don't let anyone videotape your discipline and let it go viral. You could lose custody for spanking your kids these days.”

“My wife breastfed our child for 2.5 years. She was able to take a 5 year leave from her career by making drastic changes to our lifestyle by getting rid of the 2nd car, planning our shopping trips, making do with what we have, repairing things instead of replacing and enjoying every moment we have with each other as a family. Its hard but Its not a sacrifice by any means. Having said all that it was a huge challenge for others to understand the changes we made. It also alienated us from friends and family that heavily support the credit card companies, car manufactures, electronics manufactures, top tier clothing companies, etc........etc.......
At the end of the day we have lots of loving memories, a close bond and a new found respect for the shoe cobbler down the road!”
“Wonder how the stock will do? Tyson (TSN)
Shareholders need to put pressure on management to get their act together.
I wont buy anything but local meat because this happens time and time again.....”

“Tyson "leases" out farms, all farms, almost any farm, and those farmers raise all the chickens, pigs, etc. Many farms near ours had chicken houses and a little Tyson sign out front. Then Tyson sends its drivers to pick up all the chickens, etc. They will claim that they cant police all the 10's of thousands of farms they "buy from" and that it has nothing to do with them, it's not THEIR employees mistreating the animals, and of course they were clueless. It'll drag out for years with Tyson never ever accepting or admitting any blame whatsoever. In the meantime, just know that THAT particular farm/mill/slaughter house is the exception, NOT the rule. Nothing but the most severe punishment will do.”

“I live in the area and can tell you that over 33% of family and friends have had some sort of nasty illness over the holidays, Hard to pin it down as the flu or ILI. It would be of great benefit to the public if VIHA would list possible symptoms of The A strain vs ILI.
I find it intriguing that this year has seen the highest Vaccination rates of hospital employees.
A vaccine that they actually got right by including AH3N2 strain in it, yet this year also has seen one of the highest infection rates in more than a decade with multiple breakouts at many hospitals and care facilities. We should be seeing the opposite, should we not?”

“A good job in the trades is just as much a dream as getting a good job out of university.
The Boomers were the last generation to have it this way and they are the ones that spoon fed it to gen X and Y. The world changed, people became greedier and greedier, why would an employer "invest" in an apprentice, when they can just pay skilled labor to do the same job. At the end of the day they bill out at full journeyman wages and pay skilled labor next to nothing and pocket the rest.”
