“Fact: Countries with the lowest abortion rates are not those with the most restrictive abortion laws.
Fact: Abortions occur regardless of legality.
Fact: Anti-abortion policies incur more loss of life as per the "life begins at conception" definition.
“You can say whatever you want, so long as it doesn't impede on other people's rights. There's a reason why hate speech and speech that incites violence is not protected. If "chokeabitch" or "rapebait" was a message board, you'd basically be giving a congregation of violent criminals or would be violent criminals the forum to discuss that crime. It doesn't take a huge leap of logic to say that a number of those people aren't "just talking."
Beyond that, reddit is not the government. It's a private organization that doesn't have any legal obligation to host those threads. The government doesn't have a right to force them to close those threads, but they have a right to do so if they aren't comfortable with people dancing on the line between legal, but sickening and child pornography. ”
Posting pictures of women without their consent on rapebait?
Would you like your mother, wife, sister, or daughter posted on that?
Posting picture of people's dead children for perverts to jack off to?
The people in these pictures aren't free of the consequences of just action. Just having your face there for all kinds of people to see can be destroying. Not just employers, family and friends, but can you imagine the fear of one of those young girls posted on "jailbait" or "rapebait"?
That's not free speech, that's just sick.”

“I can see your point here. I suppose the pictures does put him over a line. Text should be considered free speech.”
It's interesting that you mentioned honour killings in this context though. Another GOP candidate, Frank Szabo, has suggested that police should be able to use deadly force to stop a woman from having an abortion. Nevermind the fact that this would likely kill the fetus anyway, it would be a killing to protect the "honour" of the anti-choice agenda. ”
“Why should I think about the rape of a woman from her father's perspective? This man is one selfish SOB if he assumes the issue should be about him.”

“I'm with you on that. A parent's job is to love & support their children, not turn their child's problems backwards unto themselves in order to play the Martyr. A true Pro-Lifer would have welcomed the chance to help nurture another "precious gift of life" without complaint or embarrassment. A man saying his daughter's pregnancy either unplanned &out of wedlock or due of a rape somehow is HIS problem is seriously deranged. It comes dangerously close to the justifications used by extremists to committ "Honour killings" of their daughters who "shame" them by becoming pregnant after a rape.”
Primarily handguns; however, pepper spray and mace are also included in this category. A restricted firearm may be brought into Canada, but an Authorization to Transport (ATT) permit must be obtained in advance from a Provincial or Territorial Chief Firearms Officer. The ATT will not be issued for hunting or self-protection purposes.
Note that very important last bit.”

“I just posted directly off the Canadian website.
You look it up.
BTW, no one has asked if I thought he should be bringing a gun into Canada. I don't.
Cops are used to having a firearm close by. No doubt that is why he was uncomfortable.
On the other hand, maybe he is was just having a bad day.”
“This is the exact reason she kept quiet about it for two years. Blaming and shaming the victim for being stupid and irresponsible - sounds like most people that age to me, but apparently when someone preys upon you and rapes you, you become a special kind of stupid and irresponsible - the guilty kind. The kind that "deserved it" in some way or another.
No matter how stupid the decision was, teenagers are not famous for making good decisions. This guy knew that, he groomed her and convinced her he was a fun, likeable guy she could trust, her friend. There is a system to how this works. And yet, there will always be the person who points the finger at a scared and traumatized young girl and say, "Well, what were you thinking, young lady?"
Everyone makes bad decisions. Not everyone is a sick rapist. Keep the blame where it belongs - on the rapist. It's sad that I always have to say this.”
