“So Rachel Maddow has always been very outstanding; no wonder this Stanford graduate won the Rhodes scholarship amongst others.
Standing up for such a relatively unknown.unpopular cause when the US government was against the new South African republic is indeed amazing and ahead of time. And she was holding the other end of the stick (being Caucasian).
She does not cease to amaze me with some of her good work.”
1. Does a rectangular house built in perfect North pole only face South? If true, does not the fact that both East and West parts of the rectangular house, which are perpendicular to North and South are in fact parallel to South contradict rules of being parallel and perpendicular?
2. Are there no polar bears in the North Pole?”
Idhrenohtar on Dec 6, 2013 at 15:59:38
“1. For a philosophical point of view, North=1, South =-1, East = 0, West =0. There is no East or West on this perfect North pole.
2. North pole is not a continent, and right now, it's a lake on a huge iceberg. Polar bears lives in arctic areas, mainly in Canada. Arctic does not mean North Pole.”

“Your first statement would only be true if the earth was flat.”
Lon on Dec 6, 2013 at 10:11:26
“The answer to your first question is that the geometry on the surface of a sphere (or largely spherical object like the Earth) is not Euclidean. So principles of perpendicularity and parallel don't work the same. There are no parallel lines on a sphere. When we talk about paths being parallel we are generally talking about short distances and pretending the area is flat rather than spherical.
So yes the windows face South. But not all things facing South on a sphere are parallel. So the fact that the lines between the opposite windows would be perpendicular to each other does not create problems involving parallel lines.”
“This style of Indian is common in N.India. If you watch the whole wedding, you would be mesmerized by the beauty of it all. The groom even comes like a prince in a white horse with a sword! The bride is dazzling with flowers and jewelery (22 Karat Gold if you can imagine them; lots of them).
South Indian wedding are different, but equally very beautiful and glamorous. I know enough people from India to know this. The culture is very old, very rich, and very mesmerizing.”
“I support Hillary Clinton 100%. Still, should she not be answerable and accountable to what happened at Benghazi as the Secretary of State? And President Obama? Is this not owed to the brave Ambassador and the three special forces soldiers who lost their lives (OK, two ex-SEALs and a CIA agent who were there to protect him) and their families? Is our loyalty to Hillary more important than this, irrespective of the irresponsible Iraq war for which the other side has to be held accountable (Hillary, also supported the Iraq war as a NY senator, btw).”
“An American war hero and a man of integrity and reputation for someone that high in the political cadre and that long in politics.”

“A man who thinks it more important to play video poker than to pay attention at a meeting that is contemplating invading Syria and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent children, women and men AND U.S. Soldiers.
But I guess video poker on your smart phone is much, much more important than human life.
Also, he's the guy that picked Sarah Palin as a V.P. and if he had won, and something happened to him, she would have been president.
...but you consider this man to be a war hero, a man of integrity and reputation. Maybe you need to look up these words and get a better understanding of their definitions.”
“Children are cute and innocent. War has a huge price to pay, even for the victors.
I hope all leaders see such videos before they order to bomb their opposition to submission. If the leaders have any humanity (and I don't doubt it), it might stop a few avoidable wars.
Peace and yes, lovely child.”

“Coconut oil is highly regarded in India, which I learned during my visit there. They consider it healthy part of Ayurveda (I hope that I am not quoting this wrongly).
Coconut juice is so cooling in the tropical weather.
Thank you HufingtonPost for posting such interesting, offbeat, and to be useful articles.”
“One of the most fascinating thing is learned about the Sun is a spiritual lesson from the RIg Veda (Greek, Chinese, and the Indian ancient philosophies are so fascinating), that every life comes from and goes back eventually to the Sun, and "Moksha" or salvation from life is defined as the process of eventually goes back to the sun.
Rig Veda is the oldest of the four Vedas and is thousands of years old. So, everything in that ancient Aryan civilization is about worshiping fire - of which the Sun is the ultimate source of that energy.”
“Why would anyone intentionally be mean to anyone else? And get pleasure from it in any way?
I think most people get wise, mature and lose this bad tendency with age and experience, thankfully - 30s, 40s whatever.
And to the young people who are kind, considerate, and caring (my own kids to be honest, now in their teens) I really respect that in them.
BTW, I have known University of Iowa students. They are normal as anyone else, but they have gone to become quite successful. University of Iowa and Iowa State University are both good universities and good cities to go to college, in my experience of visiting their campus as a student myself, years back.”
Chicho Blanco on Oct 28, 2013 at 00:37:02
“You are correct. I am a University of Iowa graduate. I had a wonderful college experience. I also got a great education.”
“Very funny and creative. Enjoyable. Congrats Amanda Scherker. You are probably a cool young person! I am forwarding this to lot of people that I think who would appreciate it.
Actually, I would have this list for Phds.
Or based on #9, (they correcting my Maths and Science), I would go for my second Masters!”
(Imagine me lying on the ground and moving my arms and legs in the air unable to see - like legendary Al Bundy of Polk High in "Married with Children" just before being smashed by "Big Mama" in the wrestling match in married with children) :-)
You are welcome!”

“Bad news for you, when ever anyone is insulting and then follows through with a I was just joking...then a grownup knows that the person said what they truly feel. Sarcasm uhuh dear and you can take that to the bank but thanks anyway for your response.”
“I avoided Google mail (gmail) because I disliked their history of thread conversations. I used yahoo because they did not have that.
Now, yahoo gets Marissa Mayer from Google and she gets yahoo to implement the same S*IT. I am very disappointed but have nowhere to go but cut and paste private mail messages that I want to forward. Real pain.”

“Do what I did. The very second I saw the change 2 weeks ago, I closed my account even without saving anything. This woman has done nothing for Yahoo.”
“The female law students (most of them blonde, blue-eyed, tall, and athletic) are some of the most drunken students that I had known and sexually adventurous. Of course, that was before my marriage, when I was at college.”
