“That's right, I asked to be educated. So don't try to bs around the obvious fact that is is about religion...what I need to understand, is why everyone seems to overwhelmingly "side" with Israel when it seems like Gaza has more casualties during every conflict.”

“okay...so I'm naïve, ignorant, or whatever. So educate me.
Because to me, both sides seem to be equally violent and hateful towards the other. But the death toll in Gaza is always so much higher. So why is it so many people seem to "side" with Israel? I don't understand...
On another note...this is yet another example of why religion is stupid and it's time we, as a race, rise above it and turn to science. Just sayin...”

“It is not about religion. It is political. Israel uses religion as a moral shield.
Zionism is not Judaism.”

“There's a fantastic monologue by Leo DiCaprio in The Basketball Diaries where he talks about how much street junkies hate these rich, privileged junkies because when their addiction gets out of control they just slip off to the Four Season or some fancy expensive rehab or whatever to dry out. But that the street junkies have to go back and actually deal with the consequences of their addictions. Like jail or losing loved ones due to betrayals etc...
Every time I hear Ford talk about his addiction I can't help but think of this monologue...”

“Did you ever watch The Corner? One of the best lines was a recovering addict who said that the corner owns the addict. It's worth buying on DVD. It was the predecessor to The Wire and it's quite an eye-opener.”

“I would be scared to confront any of the Ford family for the same reasons I'd be scared to confront David Miscavige.
Bottomless purses combined with raging entitlement issues (and rage) are scary traits to go up against.
I applaud the #shirtlessjogger.”

“Dude, all you have to do is watch the news every day and you'll see there are literally dozens of politicans, all out there right now campaigning and yes, answering questions!
You don't "agree to disagree" when there's overwhelming fact based evidence to prove your wrong. Just sayin...”

“I said direct answers to direct questions, IE//Do you think that a pipeline from Alberta to BC would benefit British Columbians...answer should be Yes or No, not a three to eight paragraph speech.”

“Other politicians call press conferences to ANSWER QUESTIONS. This guy? He'll gather together every reporter in Toronto to make a "big announcement" then read a prepared statement and walk out! That's not exactly "misdirection"...it's avoidance. And he was elected. It's his DUTY to answer the questions of Torontonians.”

“Brilliant! He loves taking those pics doesn't he? Fantastic strategy, July...one which I will totally use if I ever see him in public!!
Shirtless jogger started something here I hope...this "man" should be confronted like this every time he's in public!!”
“hahahaahah.....i love it when i read people point out grammatical and/or spelling errors because they don't have any facts or knowledge about the actual topic. You were owned Andy, deal with it like a man.”

“I was not 'owned' Shelley. Given that you have called yourself 'sweetblondie' and are scared to put your face on your aviator, I would suggest you have image and self extreme issues.
“Exactly. How many priests? How many extremists? etc etc....but, without religion, those priests and those extremists don't have a place to hide.
Religion is stupid and it brainwashes people and the sooner the human race turns to science only, the less women will be stoned to death for not marrying their cousins. :)”
“Well...I agree with Andy on that, Peter. Because I also blame religion for just about everything that is wrong with the world too...
All three of the women in this story (the first wife, the dead wife's sister, and the dead wife) would all be alive now if not for religion...”
“Whether it's condoned or not is irrelevant.
These people interpreted their faith to believe it's "dishonourable" to disobey the all-ruling patriarch and in her case, not marry the cousin she was ordered to marry.
Their religion is their moral compass, Peter.
So my agreement with Andy that religion is at the heart of the issue here, stands.”
“And that's the problem. These religious novels are open to interpretation. But in these countries their legal system is based on their religious beliefs.
But...to illustrate Andy's point:
The Quran in Sura 4:34 says:
Men are managers of the affairs of women because Allah has made the one superior to the other. (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 329)
[R]esponsible for the right conduct, safeguard and maintenance of the affairs of an individual, an institution, or an organization. Thus, man is governor, director, protector, and manager of the affairs of women (p. 333, note 56).
Thus, a man’s control over a woman ranges far and wide. So, to kill a women for "dishounering" the family is by default, acceptable.”
