As the season rapidly changes, we have to say farewell to both warm days and the beloved seasonal fruits that go along with them. Goodbye, juicy watermelon. So long, luscious strawberries. But chin up fruit lovers, there's a new star in town! Pears! The deliciously fresh and lightly sweet quality of pears can be enjoyed in countless recipes and served in the comfort of your own home this fall season.

There is some real chill in the morning air all of a sudden, and the new school year is well underway. Now that it's back-to-school time here's a great crispy rice treat, sans all the yucky gelatin and refined sugars included in traditional recipes (and it's nut free, so good for lunch boxes!)

With the dawn of a new autumn looming over our heads, we desperately grasp at straws trying to maintain those laidback summer vibes we've been feeling all season long. Instead, I say we celebrate the change of seasons, look forward to it and honour the passing of summer for another year. And how better to pay your respects that lounging in the late afternoon sun with a liquored up snow cone and a barbecue?

I feel clever because I took something that an ordinary person would throw away, or eat and resent because the yellow/peach coloured apples were mealy. But as applesauce, those pathetic specimens are going to be so good that I might even lick the bowl, and because it's just me here, nobody will know the difference.
