The Scary Truth Behind These 'Natural' Baby Products

Johnson & Johnson explains that they offer "the only line of baby skin products that combines 98 per cent naturally derived ingredients with over 100 years of baby care expertise." Now might be a good time to remind the parents-to-be and the rest of us that for the better part of the last 100 years, Johnson & Johnson was recommending (and still does!) sweetly fragranced petroleum oil for babies (known more commonly as baby oil)

If Vegetables Don't Make Oil, What Is Crisco?

They call Crisco an "all-vegetable shortening." Soybeans and palm fruit are not vegetables. Incidentally, cottonseed oil also doesn't come from vegetables. Vegetables don't make oil. Corn is a grain. Soy is a grain. Olives are fruits. Coconuts are fruits. Flax and hemp? Seeds. Carrots and celery? Nope...no oil.

Sorry PC, This Nutritionist Won't Hawk Your "Healthy" Products

I was both delighted and surprised when I was contacted by a casting agency for a President's Choice TV campaign around their healthier choices Blue Menu products. But "healthier" is not the same as "healthy." I was not the only nutritionist called in for an interview. I was also not the only nutritionist who wasn't willing to put their name or professional reputation behind these products.
