The Liberal Party is split on who is best positioned to win -- but we seem to agree on one thing: it's gonna be a girl. This isn't some instance of affirmative action. From every conversation I've heard, Liberal partisans want the most qualified person to be Premier. It's just that most Liberals believe the best person is either Sandra Pupatello, the front runner, or Kathleen Wynne, her clearest rival.

Avid news junkies know there's really five other folks "running," but c'mon folks, this is the leadership of the Liberal Party you're running for, a job only the most eminently experienced children of dead prime ministers are qualified to fill. In reality, of course, Wednesday was a date like any other for a nation that's already been toiling under the weight of a Liberal leadership tournament ever since Bob Rae stepped down last June, or at latest since that crisp October evening when Justin Trudeau threw his shimmering locks into the ring.

What are today's Canadians are looking for in their political leaders? Yes, they look for inspiration and hope for the future; but they expect more than that. I believe what Canadians are looking for is genuine representation. My experience is the Canadian experience. As an immigrant, as a woman, as an entrepreneur, as a proudly "green" Canadian, and as a parent, I am someone who sees the future and seizes it. That's what I want to share with the Party and our country.
