We Must Separate Fact From Fiction in the Cannabis Debate

Conversations about cannabis policy are heating up. So it's no surprise that we suddenly seem immersed in claims and counterclaims on a slew of topics related to cannabis use and regulation. The International Centre for Science in Drug Policy has tasked itself with determining the strength of scientific support for such claims. Over the past year, we've been working diligently on scanning the news media and online conversations about cannabis to identify the most oft-repeated or high-profile claims including the ones above related to its use and regulation.

Smoking Marijuana Made Me Smarter

I feel that marijuana is great for tough decisions. Marijuana is a great medicine for anger and frustration. I believe marijuana makes you smart; maybe the government doesn't want you smoking marijuana because it educates and enhances your brain, enhances your thinking. Legalization takes away the extra tool a police officer would use to express his or her hate toward a cannabis consumer. Legalization also improves the atmosphere a cannabis consumer purchases in. You shouldn't have to jeopardize your life to get a little medication. Thanks to legalization things are safer for the vendor and the consumer.

Margaret Wente said that Marc's no hero, but I disagree.

Stop Pretending Marijuana Prohibition Protects Children

The Tories can't even mention Justin Trudeau and his plan to legalize pot without resorting to a plea to 'think of the children!' They'll tell you pot can fry a developing brain, spoil an academic career or even turn your son or daughter into an addict. But prohibition isn't keeping pot away from teens. It is ruining young lives across the continent. As it so often with misguided legislation, it's the disadvantaged who suffer most.

My Plans After U.S. Prison Release: 'Prince Of Pot'

The most important project for Jodie and I begins on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. That day kicks off our Election 2015 Canada-wide speaking tour, where we will speak at rallies in thirty cities in nine provinces, until Monday Oct. 18, 2015, the day before Canada's federal election. The intent will be to impress upon the Canadian cannabis culture to get out and vote - and vote against the currently-governing prohibitionist Conservative party.
