As the sunny days of summer have faded and the reality of back-to-work season for many employees is settling in, here's a troubling stat from a recent poll: a whopping two thirds (65 per cent) of employed Canadians are mentally ready to leave their current employer. Two thirds!

While I have a blessed life (with its fair share of twists, turns, and challenges) with a loving husband, three healthy children, a career, and a comfortable lifestyle, the hustle and bustle of everyday life was leaving me feeling lonely, and craving deeper connections and meaning.
By the time we're in our thirties we've subconsciously conditioned ourselves to have automatic responses to stress: "I'm too tired," "I can't help myself," or "things never work out for me." These myths can lower the bar and prolong a rut you may find yourself in, making meh the new normal.

The average Canadian spends a whopping four hours and 20 minutes a day watching TV (5 hours in the U.S. for comparison), and that doesn't include social media time. That's 30 hours a week or 1560 hours a year in which the average Canadian sits on a couch. So here's my challenge to you: Give up one sitcom, one iffy reality show to free up an hour of your time each week.
