Recently, I was invited to a happening, an evening "of celebration, comedy, music, and discussion with expert panellists" organized by an obviously worthy volunteer group called Reimagine CBC. Seems Reimagine CBC and another volunteer group have just finished a survey of some 11,000 Canadians aimed at finding out what we, the citizens, want of our CBC.

The biggest fault of The NBC newsmagazine broadcast Rock Center is that it remains no more than an hour-long extension of Williams' Nightly News, with the occasional bit of humour. While it's intentions are strong and admirable, it feels caught between a talk show and a news program.

TV money has turned our government into a rancorous, partisan, poisonous money machine. It's turned our campuses into farm teams and training camps for the pros. It's wonderful what our media and broadcasters have wrought.
