Schools are pumping out under-educated, skills-lacking graduates who don't know how to learn because they never mastered the process of learning. We don't need to entertain kids to give them a quality education. To improve performance and creativity in schools, try raising your standards.
Officially launching this year for kindergarten to grade 9 students, the B.C. Ministry of Education is redesigning the K-12 curricula under a common 21st-century learning framework. This approach emphasizes a more student-initiated, self-directed, inquiry-based learning model.
The opponents of the new curriculum don't realize that masturbation was included in the old curriculum too. They are trying to close a barn door that was open long ago. What we used to say in puberty classes was that masturbation can't hurt you. It's a human thing to do.
My racism at the age of 10, although not acceptable, was somewhat understandable. But my daughter's? Why aren't today's youth more knowledgeable than I was? The expectation would be that after a thorough history lesson, our children should be horrified by the treatment of the aboriginal community, not rationalizing it.
