As a mother of four, I'm encouraging you to not let a fear of messes stand in the way of having fun with your family this holiday season. Instead, choose to be in the moment, enjoying quality time and getting messy with the following activities.
I'm one of those bizarre souls who adores winter. I love snow and hoarfrost and bright blue skies. In addition to the outdoor beauty, I love the downtime winter provides. I get to catch up on my reading and Netflix. I might even throw in a craft project or two.
The longer this winter has dragged on, the more amazingly creative Canadians have become.

I tend to hibernate more and by the end of February I'm going squirrelly. By now, I need an attitude adjustment. My guess is that others do, too. Here are some ways to get over the February blahs and cabin fever, as we go into the last stretch of winter.

Join a gym or set one up in your house. Set a regular exercise routine and stick to it; put it in your weekly calendar. Often we feel more lethargic or uninspired because we feel a sense of not accomplishing much. Working out is a great item to check off on your to-do list, and has proven results in improving our state of mind, and of course, body.
With the mercury dropping from coast to coast, it's easy to want to huddle inside by the fireplace. But most of us find that we're happier when we get outside. For my family, some of our happiest memories have been when we've been exploring nature and the outdoors together.
