Doing makeup without a mirror could lead to some garish results (i.e. smudged lipstick, uneven foundation).

In a pinch, however, you may very well have to do your face sans mirror. "In this busy day and age, it's not uncommon to be running out the door with your jacket half on, breakfast in one hand and your makeup bag in the other, all while trying to complete your morning routine before the world sees you!" says Vanessa Jarman, a Toronto-based makeup artist with the agency Page One Management.

Here's how to pull off getting your face done whenever you find yourself without a mirror handy.

Apply A BB Cream Or Tinted Moisturizer

Using a BB Cream or moisturizer that offers a sheer finish will be more forgiving than a foundation that gives you full coverage, so you can worry less about evenness and streakiness. Alternatively, using a mineral foundation in a powder compact can be a simple way to get some coverage and even out skin tone. If you don't have time for any of these options, Jarman suggests taking your lip balm and, with your ring finger, stippling a small amount on your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose. "This is a great way to add highlights to the face. Your skin will appear fresh and dewy," she says. You'll want to avoid using this trick on your forehead, however -- skin is often oily by the afternoon.

Do Your Makeup Without A Mirror

Play Up Lashes With Some Shine

You may hate leaving the house without mascara, but attempting to apply it without a mirror, perhaps even in a moving vehicle, is a recipe for disaster. Instead, Jarman suggests taking a tiny bit of Vaseline on your pointer finger and warming it against your thumb. "Then carefully touch your lashes from root to tip. This will get rid of any fallen eye shadow and will gently separate your lashes, while also leaving a healthy sheen," she says.

Powder Your Face

Thankfully, there are some products that are pretty simple to apply without a mirror -- face powder being one of them. A light dusting over your whole face will do a decent job. If you're looking to remove excess shine from your nose, Jarman suggests using blotting sheets. "You'll be able to check your progress on the sheets themselves," she says -- as the sheets become less transparent (i.e. absorb less oil) you'll have sufficiently dealt with your shiny nose.

Apply A Tinted Lip Balm

Even if you've got your lip liner and lipstick with you, you're better off skipping your lip job until you can get in front of a mirror. Instead, grab your tinted lip balm -- it's sheerness will be forgiving if you don't apply it perfectly -- and rely on the sensation of the lip balm stick on your lips to determine where to apply it for even coverage.
