There are almost 600 people in BC waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, and almost 500 of those are waiting for a kidney. Sadly many of these patients will die waiting. Everyone can be a hero and do their part to help make a second chance possible for those waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. In the time it takes to get a coffee at your local café, here's 5 things you can do to help patients wiaiting for life-saving transplants.

It's a fact. Organ transplants save lives. It is also the reason why thousands of Canadians will be celebrating National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week this week: April 18 to 25.

There are almost 600 people in BC waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, and almost 500 of those are waiting for a kidney. Sadly many of these patients will die waiting.

Everyone can be a hero and do their part to help make a second chance possible for those waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.

In the time it takes to get a coffee at your local café, here's 5 things you can do to help patients wiaiting for life-saving transplants.

1. Register your organ donation decision right now....yes NOW.

Heroes aren't born, they're registered.

2. Think you are registered - check again

Too many people still people that they are registered via their driver's license. This system has not been in place since 1997. Check to see if you are registered with BC's organ donor registry.

3. Tell your friends and loved ones about your organ donation decision

It is key that you not only register your decision at kidney.bc.ca but also that you tell your family and loved ones.

4. Join BC Transplant's #MakeIt1Million campaign

Twenty percent of the province are registered organ donors - that is 982, 000 residents. BC Transplant is undertaking a campaign during NOTDAW to increase the number of registered donors to one million people Support this campaign by posting on social media with the hashtag #MakeIt1Million.

5. Purchase A Ticket for Celebrity Men Fashion Event
