Marcel Adam, Canadian Man, Reportedly Found Dead In Dominican Republic Resort Town

THE CANADIAN PRESS — TORONTO - A Canadian citizen has reportedly been killed in the Dominican Republic.

A local media report has identified the victim as 68-year-old Marcel Adam.

According to the report, Adam's body was found on Friday in an apartment in the resort town of Sosua, near Puerto Plata.

Authorities believe the man had been killed three days earlier.

Local authorities have launched an investigation, but initial reports indicate his death was caused by gunshot or fatal blow on the head with a sharp object.

The foreign affairs department in Ottawa confirmed it was aware of the death of a Canadian citizen in the Dominican Republic.

It said Canadian consular officials in Santo Domingo are working closely with local authorities to gather additional information and are providing consular assistance to the family.
